Had my hair and make up trial today at my top choice salon. Its literally 2 miles from my Venue and very reasonably priced so I had high hopes. Besides getting ridiculed for showing up 15 minutes early and having them deal with a scheduling conflict and switch who my trial was with in front of me, I was not very pleased with my make up trial. My hair came out nice, not perfect but a couple of tweaks and I would be happy but when it came to the makeup she ran to her car to get her personal brushes (personal as in the ones she uses on herself) and then started to use makeup from a color palette bought in an accessory store in the mall (icing I believe it was called). She used her foundation on me and barely primed or evened out my coloring. I left at 12 and by the time I checked the mirror at 3 the eye makeup was bascially worn off from the normal oils on my lids. I was so disappointed. When I asked about air brush make up that they had offered she said she doesn't do that and doesn't really know much about it. When the trial was over, which was in about 15 minutes because her next appointment was waiting she said on the day of my wedding they spray my face with hair spray to set the makeup. She said most people use make up spray but hair spray is basically the same thing.
I was so disappointed, thankfully the trial was cheap but now I am back to square one. I want someone professional with atleast a couple of years of experience (the girl who did my hair was 22 and the girl who did my makeup was 21).
Working on setting up some trials but if anyone has an recommendations for the Monmouth or Ocean county areas please let me know. Its getting to be crunch time with my wedding being in May.
