Just for Me Designs

Has anyone worked with this woman, Antoinette Cadow, owner of Just for Me Designs?  She makes jewelry.  I met with her in January and ordered 6 bracelets with charms to use as cake pulls.  We went back and forth via email to finalize which charms I wanted.  Some of the ones I wanted were not on her website but she said it would not be a problem to order them.  They were not ready until April so I was glad I ordered early.  The bracelets were beautiful.  They were exactly what I expected until I went to pay.  The amount she requested was approximately $80 more than the total we originally agreed upon.  When I questioned the increase she explained that the charms were not included in the original price.  I showed her my original receipt which clearly states "...bracelets WITH cake pull charms."  She then began attempting to justify the increase saying that the price of silver had increased since we first met and that since she had to special order some of the charms she was taking a loss on the bracelets.  I said that I did not want the bracelets and would rather lose the 50% deposit than pay her the increased amount.  I explained that had she notified me sooner of the increased price circumstance would be different however simply requesting so much more money on the spot was not good business.  She agreed to return my deposit all the while stating that it is against her policy, that all sales were final and that the cost of silver really had increased. None the less, I appreciated the gesture of returning the deposit. I told her that the bracelets were very pretty and that she would easily be able to sell them to someone but just not to me at that price.  Later that afternoon I received a not-so-nice email explaining that she didn’t appreciate me assuming that she was trying to take advantage of me, she regretted returning my deposit and that she had told me about the increase in an email dated March 10.  I scanned back to the email and yes, she did tell me that the bracelets were going to be $30 each (the initial price was $24 per bracelet). That would be a $36 increase not an $80 increase.  She didn’t even do the math to figure out that she was still way over charging me.  Also, I did not assume she was taking advantage of me, those were her words.  The thought had not crossed my mind until she mentioned it.  The fact that she returned my deposit was her saving grace in my opinion that is until I received her last email.

I have since bought the individual pieces-parts and made the bracelets myself.  They came out very nice. They ended up costing less than she was trying to charge me and I made 7 bracelets (instead of 6) plus I have enough left over to make a necklace for a Mother's Day gift.   I made them just a little different and like them even more than the ones I ordered.  They are more special since I made them myself.

I would NOT recommend Just for Me Designs to anyone!

So sorry to hear about your ordeal, but looking at your pictures, I'm thinking you might have a new business opportunity! The ones you made turned out great! Thanks for sharing.

I agree!  Where did you get those charms?  Are you interested in making and selling cake pulls?

Yea sure.  They still weren't very cheap.  I used swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls (at least I was told they were real) and sterling silver charms and clasp.  I got the charms from Gary's on 18th Street off of Causeway.   I had small tools at home so I was able to work with the small pieces.  They were actually pretty easy to make and I quite enjoyed the time.

I am sorry you feel this way about my services. I do feel like I tried my best to explain the situation to you. Although I do not agree with some of your details, I choose not to make this into a war. I do have to say that I have been doing this for six years and have only had two brides that have not been pleased. I work hard to satisfy every bride, I take pride in what I do. It's upsetting to me that it only takes a few unpleasant brides to put a few bad notes or lies on a blog to put a bad taste in peoples mouth. I hope no one ever does that to you . I work very hard to provide good service to my brides and to provide for my family at the same time. Again, I wish you well and I thank God I have many other brides that are spreading how well I have treated them and are very pleased. Looking at how many post you have, you may want to find another hobby to keep yourself busy.
