Review Frosted Art Dallas - It was a nightmare

Review Frost Art Dallas

What a total disaster! I would recommend a cake from your local grocery store before this bakery.

I had my reception at Arlington Hall at Lee Park which requires you to use their cater (Food Glorious Food – they were amazing!)  & Frosted Art as your bakery. From start to finish dealing with Frosted Art was a nightmare. Getting an appointment was difficult, when I finally went in for my tasting they were out of several flavors, the sales girl admitted the cake was from that week, not that day! As if being forced to have a terrible tasting cake wasn’t bad enough the prices were outrageous almost twice as much as the other bakeries I had talked with before selecting Arlington Hall as my venue.  I clear wanted a wedding cake so I sucked it up and ordered my cake, I submitted several photos of wedding cakes that were almost identical that I would like replicated for my wedding the cake that showed up was a half ass attempt  at best of these photos. Needless to say I was VERY disappointed in my entire experience and would warn all Dallas brides to stay far away.

That's a shame. I just saw a beautiful cake they did for Michael Young's charity event and heard rave reviews on the flavor.

That's too bad and I am so sorry to hear that.  It's not uncommon for tastings to be of previously baked cake that has been frozen.  Frosted Art did the cake for my boss' wedding and it was delicious and exactly what they wanted.  Frosted Art is very well-known here in Dallas, but even the best vendors can have an off day.  I'm sorry that it happened at your wedding.

Arlington Hall was a venue I considered.  I'm sure everything else was wonderful so don't let this mar the memory of your day.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Frosted Art is run by Bronwen Weber - a big celebrity baker. So the prices reflect her reputation. Also, pretty much every bakery makes the cakes up to a week ahead of time (decorating can take a very long time), but you're right that they should taste good. I'm sorry they didn't come through for you.

FWIW, a good friend used Frosted Art for her wedding - it was beautiful and pretty tasty.

If you had this big of a problem with them, I'd recommend taking your concerns to the owner.  It seems like this may be an exception, and with the amount you paid, you should deserve some sort of compensation if you were this dissatisfied.  Vendors like to please their customers and Fosted Art would probably be horrified that you had this experience.

Although, I am slightly mistrusting of people with few posts on the Knot when at least one of those posts is a very negative review.  But if you did have that experience, that is sad-- hopefully you can find a baker you do like to make a mini wedding cake for you on your first anniversary.

I was a pretty low key bride and am not the blogging type so I haven’t really done any posting but I thought others should be warned, Arlington Hall told me there have been several brides this year to be disappointed  and they are  looking into the possibility of having other vendors in the future.  I guess I just expected more for $10+  a slice. Hope everyone is enjoying planning! Married Life is wonderful!

So, just to clarify, did you even take your concerns to the owner at all? I have to agree 100% with what Lauren said, if you haven't already, definitely state your concerns to them to see if there can be some sort of resolution.

I did and was first met with the attitude of “we delivered you and cake it was served so it’s no longer our problem” I mean of course it was served -  did they expect me to send it back once I walked into cocktail hours and saw it wasn’t as it should have been?  A week later they called me back ( I think after Arlington Hall raised the issue with them)  and said if I would like to return the top layer they will refund its cost, so a couple hundred of the several thousand we spent.  I wasn’t looking for a refund as much as an apology and the promise they would try harder for other brides.

My friend also used Frosted Art. I went with her to the tasting and it was amazing. But the actual cake at her wedding? It was so dry that I couldn't make it through the second bite. Pretty much all the guests did the same.
  • There are some bad reviews of Frosted Art on weddingwire.com too. Most were great reviews but I wouldn't risk the possibility of having a dry cake that was the wrong design starting at $4.75 per slice. The reviewers stated that they weren't able to get refunds or any kind of recourse from being delivered a subpar cake on their wedding days. Arlington Hall is also overly restrictive because brides are forced to order a cake from Frosted Art, that may or not be of good quality OR pay the $4 cake cutting fee for using an another vendor+the cost of the actual cake OR have no wedding cake at all.
