Since we're talking about invites...

Did anyone else make their own invites? My FI is convinced that we should only shop at Michaels for invites because they're so cheap and "it's only a piece of paper with info on it." I don't really like their choices in our colors, so I'm weighing whether or not to design/print our own. Maybe I could have just the invite professionally printed and then order the rest from cards and pockets to assemble on my own?

I DIY'd mine.  I found a set that I liked at AC Moore.  It was super simple to do and easy to add a few of my own touches to spice it up a bit.  I saved some $$ and still I got tons of compliments on them.  If you are good with computers, I would definitely say to DIY this one... make sure you have a good printer too though.  A crappy printer will = crappy looking invites... if that's the case, you would probably spend just as much on a new printer and DIY's as you wuold paying someone to do them.

I did mine on weddingbee.com and only paid $150 for 100 invites. They have a ton of styles to choose from.

I also DIY'd my invites. From scratch. I bought cardstock, ribbon, and a pattern punch to accomplish the look I wanted. It really wasn't that difficult until my pattern punch sort of broke and would stick to the paper. I have DIY'd a lot for my wedding....it's an inexpensive way to get a custom look. If you've got the time and a specific vision, I say go for it!

weddingbee.com?  I've only made examples of my DIY invites...that's super cheap!  I'm def. checking that out!
But yeah, I went with cardstock and stuff too and I thought they turned out well.  I also didn't like any of the kits they had.

The website is invitations.weddingbee.com I ordered the Bohemian wrap invites. The only thing that I have to buy separately are the small envelopes for the RSVPs. I haven't received them yet so I can't vouch for the quality but it seems like a good buy!
