June 2013 Weddings

June 8th Wedding--New here

Hi everyone!

My amazing fiance proposed on November 21st, and we are planning a June 8th wedding. We have the ceremony & reception venues, I have my dress & bridesmaids dresses, we have the tuxes chosen, and aaaaugh! I keep going back and forth with thinking I'm ahead of schedule and suddenly I think I'm behind schedule.

I think I'll feel better once we've for sure chosen a caterer. Our reception site has 4 choices, but they all do things very differently (ex: one is all inclusive with tables, chairs, centerpieces, etc, while another only includes the food) so it's hard to compare them until we really have time to sit down and figure out what the additional expenses will be with some.

I'm just grateful to have an amazing man by my side and a wonderful group of bridesmaids helping me along too.

  • I am also getting married on the 8th! Congrats! I, too, feel ahead, then behind, then ahead again. I feel like sometimes it corresponds to all of the other stress in my life! I feel sooo much more in control when work and personal life are organized! When I feel stressed, I always tell myself "if, at the end of the day, I am married, then everything worked out perfectly." And I really do believe that if my florist burned down and my caterer didn't show up, my family and friends will still be witness to the marriage of my dreams and THAT is what is important!
  • Thanks everyone! Looks like I have a lot of "date twins" here.

The proposal was very simple, although he originally had a very elaborate plan that fell through (picture being brought up on stage in the middle of a musical with 100's of people watching--I would have been mortified, but it definitely would have been a good story). It was the day before Thanksgiving, and we were getting ready for my parents to get into town in about 45 minutes. I was rushing around after showering trying to get my hair done, get dressed, all the while getting dinner ready too. I sell jewelry, so I was standing at my (large) jewelry table trying to pick out what to wear that night. He's always very helpful in suggesting things, and he had walked up behind me when I asked if I should wear a specific necklace. He suggested an alternative necklace, and when I asked what else I should wear, his hand came into view holding a ring box, and he said "Why don't you wear this?"

It was probably nearly 5 minutes before I even got a good look at the ring, because I had swung around and wrapped my arms around him. When he actually said the words, "Will you marry me," I had to have been the happiest girl in the world.

Dinner wound up delayed (and slightly burnt), but nobody cared. My dad absolutely adores him, and I think he was glad he had finally asked because he had talked to him and asked for my hand in marriage weeks before then. My dad is horrible about keeping secrets when he's excited about something so I'm sure it was killing him.
