Olowalu girls...

Hi! I am new to these boards. I am getting married at Olowalu July 28, 2010.

I am wondering if you past Olowalu brides found the need to rent a backup tent just in case it rains? Future Olowalu brides - are you planning on renting a tent?

I heard that if there were less than 40 people we might fit under the porch, but am wondering what to do if there are more than 40 attending. Apparently the cheapest rental tent is about $500.

Thanks ladies!

The night before the wedding we had lots of wind and blowing rain that wouldn't stop. I (mother of the groom and amateur wedding coordinator) was having fits. I tried to persuade my son to allow a tent, but he refused.  Anyway, we had a gorgeous day and night, no wind even. The weather gods smiled on us! The main reason they were opposed to a tent was that they thought it would ruin the lookl. However they do set the tent up on the side of the house near the circle drive and I think it would have been insurance of sorts.

We had 49 and I don't know how we would have fit in the house.
I don't think July is rainy season and I haven't heard one bride say she had rain there? Are we just all lucky? Who knows! Do whatever gives you peace of mind!

Thanks ladies! I think I will wait a little closer to the date to see how many people will actually be coming and then go from there.

Glad you asked the question because I've totally been wondering about that as well :)

We actually had a cloud drift over us and it misted for about 5 minutes, but frankly that was a relief 'cause the wind had died down!

our WC told us that Olowalu will be fine in case it rains because it has the wrap around lanai and plenty of space on the inside. so no need for a tent.
But to be on the safe side, you can always have the extra cash set aside for a smaller tent :)
