First Gift Arrived Yesterday!

My bridal shower isn't until next weekend (the 25th), but yesterday I came home to a big old BBB box sitting by our front door!

I was so excited and told FI to hurry up and get home so we could open it. It was our Oneida flatware set! FI and I have lived together for about 2 1/2 years but we've been using an old set of my parents. It's so exciting to upgrade some things.

For those of you who got gifts before your actual shower - did you send out a thank you card right away or did you wait until after your shower? Not sure if we were supposed to wait to open it . . . but I just couldn't lol.

My shower is a surprise, but we did get one gift ahead of time and opened it and sent the thank you right away. I think if you get the gift pre-event you're supposed to send the thank you within two weeks.

I have recieved a few gifts prior to my shower which is this Saturday YAY! I decided to send thank yous after my shower to everyone just figured it would be easier

Congrats! I am so excited to be able to upgrade our college silverware! We opened the gifts we received before the shower and mailed out thank yous right away. As a gift giver, ia always like to know the recipient actually received the gift.

I would send out a thank-you note right now. It will let them know that you safely received the gift. If I sent one and didn't get a thank ou after a week or two, I would be worried the gift didn't get to them.

I agree with PPs, since the gift was mailed definitely get it out as soon as you can. It's no fun for the sender to sit around worrying about whether or not the gift was received, I have been that person.

Good question! I have now received 2 shower gifts (for my IA shower in 2 weeks) in the mail and I was debating sending the thank you's out before the shower.

We actually received our first gift yesterday too! I did the same thing and sent FI a text to get home soon

Since my shower isn't until Sept. I am not sure if it's a wedding gift or shower gift. Either way, we are going to send a TY for the gifts.

I was so happy that I was caught up on my thank you notes before my shower which was last Sat. We received a few gifts before the shower from people who couldn't make it, and I sent out thank you notes right away. Now I have about 60 thank you notes to write, so I'm really happy I got those out of the way! Plus, I have a really bad cold this week...but I still forced myself to write 10 notes yesterday because I don't want this process to drag out longer than this weekend.

we've been opening our gifts and using them as we get it. we figured that if people wanted to give us things now that they must want us to enjoy their gifts sooner rather than letting it sit in a box...i think it makes the TY card more meaningful. We've been sending out TY cards as we get them for the same reason as PPs said, to let the giver know we've received their gift.
