Parents' gifts...what are you giving them?

Before planning for my own wedding I never knew the parents were given a gift from the bride and groom. FI and I are brainstorming on what to get them and we have a few ideas in mind.

What are you girls giving your parents??

Re: Parents' gifts...what are you giving them?

  • Well, I feel horrible...didn't get my parents anything for my first wedding and wasn't planning on getting them anything this time.  They did not help pay for the first wedding and are not helping with this one - I would never expect them to, but maybe the gifts are for when parents are paying?  It would be great to know the proper etiquette.  I'm sounding so cheap right now, LOL!

  • I'm giving my Dad some custom cuff links that say "My First Love" "Your Princess 12.16.12" and a hankie that says "To dry your eyes as you have always dried mine. Thank you for the wedding of my dreams" and a cd of me singing this Carrie Underwood song she loves.

  • Ok, I remember I gave my parents (and his mom - his dad passed) a copy of the wedding DVD and a framed picture of me and my (now ex) husband back then....nothing too extravagant, but I guess it was SOMETHING, LOL!  Not sure what I will do this time around....

LOL! Your post made me laugh. Honestly, I never knew parents were supposed to get gifts. We are giving our moms a really nice album for the wedding and a gift card to their favorite restaurant.
  • I got my parents a gift certificate towards a future cruise. They are helping pay so I wanted to get them something nice. My Fiance got his parents these digital frames that run through a phoneline and can automatically send pictures that we put in a folder on our computer to the frames.

  • We gave our moms tickets to a concet they both really wanted to go to.
H gave his dad the hunting knife he'd been eye balling for quite some time with his initals engraved.
I gave my dad a new basebal glove and a ball signed by me (My dad was my first coach and taught all his kids how to play baseball.)
