Bridal Shower vs. Wedding Registry-HELP

So, I'm confused. Can/do I register for gifts for my bridal shower that are separate from our wedding registry. Example:
We want to register with Cabelas and REI for our wedding gifts but I kinda want to register for pampered chef and at home America, etc, etc too, but don't want to register for to many things and can I do some that are just for my bridal shower... I'm sooooo lost please help! what is etiquette I think is what I'm asking.

The registry for your shower and wedding are all the same list.  You can register at several stores if you want.  You can't designate what people will buy you - and PLEASE don't have a pampered chef shower where the person comes in and demos and then pressures guests to purchase for you.  That's really rude.  But you can have a registry at pampered chef if you want, and people can choose to purchase through there or not.

Sometimes hosts will put on a themed shower like a "kitchen shower" or "bed and bath shower" or "stock the bar shower" but I'm personally not a huge fan of these unless the themes are relatively generic, there is a lot of options on the registry that fit the theme, and there are stores near most guests that carry items that fall in this theme.  The themes I listed above would probably be fine if you had enough items.  Themes that are not fine are things like an "around the clock shower" where each guest is given a time of day - I mean, sorry but I don't know what to buy you for "breakfast time", except for bowls and those may be out of my budget, KWIM?  Other shower themes that aren't ok are "room showers" where each guest is given a room - kitchen would be fine, but laundry room?  That's awkward.

If you only have a few items at a bunch of places, you can register at Amazon.com.  They have a universal registry button that allows you to register for anything you can find online and compile it all into the same list.

Final point: complete sentences are your friend.

  • I agree with PP.  Your wedding/ shower registry are the same thing.  But you can def. register at more than one store.  Maybe you could register for several things that you love from each store so that it won't be too overwhelming?

  • Maybe start an Amazon Universal registry? That way you can put everything you and FI like from various places in one list...

This. And I didn't know what At Home America was, so I looked it up. It's the same business model as Pampered Chef, so the same comment applies to them.
