Who escorts mom?

Originally, my brother was going to escort my mom to her seat. Now, he has decided not to come (long story). My aunt suggested my father seat her, then come back to walk me down the aisle, but I think that would be weird. My mom suggested she be escorted by one of her nephews. What would you do? Any thoughts?

Re: Who escorts mom?

  • If she isn't part of the processional, traditionally the groom would escort her to her seat right after he escorts his mom.

It can be anybody though.  Ask her who she would pick.

  • I don't think it's weird for dad to walk her.  My brother walked my mom and then came back for me.  But if her choice is the nephew go with that.

  • My nephews escorted my mom.

My brother escorted our mom and his MIL at the same time down the aisle at his wedding.

I've seen dad's escort the mom and then come back.  I've seen uncles, brothers, nephews do the escorting.

Basically, there is no right or wrong answer.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • My brothers escorted my mom. My brothers were also groomsmen, so they escorted my mom, then came back and walked in with the groom and groomsmen.
