We got married at 1:00 pm. Our reception started at 3:30pm with a cocktail hour/hor'dourves. We took pics back at the church while our guests were enjoying some food and drinks. Then we arrived at the reception venue and took some more pics. Dinner was served at 5:30 pm and the festivities (cake cutting, first dances) started shortly thereafter.

Our wedding is at 7. Our reception is in the reception hall, across the the sidewalk from the church, so it will immediately follow the ceremony.

Our ceremony was at 3:00 (went until just after 4:00).
Our reception was about a 30 minute drive and started at 6:00.

our ceremony is at 3pm and reception will start at 5pm. there will be a cocktail hour first then dinner at 6pm. in terms of ceremony times we didn't have much choice. i believe it was either 10am, 1pm or 3pm. so we picked the latest one so there would be the least amount of time between the ceremony and reception.

Ceremony began at 2, ended a little after 3 and then we had a receiving line. It was a 20 minute drive to the reception that began at 4.

Our ceremony is at 2pm, then we're going to take some pictures at the church, then we're going to pick two places to go take additional pics. FI really wants one pic at Champs, this is where we met in person for the first time.

Since the Church and reception are within 15 minutes of our condo, we have rented the Party Center for people who would like to relax, but does not make sence for them to drive back home in the interum.

Our reception begins at 6 with a cocktail hour, and then dinner begins at 7.

I had a 2pm ceremony, ended at 2:45.  Reception started at 6.  ~30 minute drive from church to reception site. Had an informal cocktail hour at my parents house in between because they live across the street from the church.  All though, a lot of people went back home or to the hotel instead (gaps are common in my area.  So don't judge me ;))

Ceremony at 1.  Reception to start with cocktail hour at 5.  Our church has a 3:00 confession, so we need to be out of there early.

Our ceremony (Latin) began at 3:15pm (started 15 min late bc our choir was stuck in traffic), and ended at 4:30pm. We did a receiving line which was another 15-20 minutes. It was about 15 min ride between the church and reception hall. Our cocktail hour started at 6:00pm. Most of our guests were staying at a local hotel, and we had shuttle service between the hotel and recpetion hall, so most of them went to check-in at the hotel and hung out at the hotel lobby bar in between.

You need to factor in where you are going to take pictures after the wedding and traveling time to the picture locations and reception. (some pics at church & then another location???). Our full mass wedding was at 3pm.  I factored in about a half an hour to take family pictures and portraits at the church after the wedding.  (It was 4:30pm when we ended)  I then wanted to take pics at a local park and accounted for an hour there (It was now about 6:00) It took about a half an hour to get to the reception hall where we relaxed for about a half an hour to recharge our batteries and then  took more pics.) By cocktail hour (8pm) I was ready to mingle and eat!!  (I knew I wanted to attend my cocktail hour so that I could greet everyone then.)

i disagree with Krysty.  yoiu should NOT make your guests wait for hours just so you can have pictures.  if you want pictures at multiple locations, do them BEFORE the ceremony.

Krysty - what did your guests do in-between the ceremony and reception? did you have something set-up for them?
