Still need a florist!

Hello!

This is my first post however I have been reading all of the boards since I got engaged last February and have found them very helpful!

Our wedding is May 8, 2010 and we still don't have a florist!!!  I am starting to fear that I may have waited too long!  I really don't know where to start.  I have no clue what I want so I need someone who is very creative and can show me options.  I would also like to keep it under $1000 - but I don't know if that is reasonable or doable?  Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I also don't have a florist yet, but my wedding isn't until June. This is on my list of things to do this month. I'm planning on going to a few different places in my area and getting quotes. I know what  I need for the most part, so it shouldn't be to painful. I would start brainstorming about what you would need; wedding party flowers, centerpieces, other decorations, etc. This will give you a better idea when you go talk to florists. Sorry, Im not much help.

I'm using Rich West. He was the most creative that I talked to and was very honest about flowers that would/wouldn't hold up that I wanted. Mine stayed well under $1000, but I guess it depends on what you need for flowers. I'm also not doing flowers for my centerpieces...pillar candles in a vase ($1 each at a dollar store) and bought fake petals online (I think they are around $25 a table as real petals) to go around the vase, then a couple votives provided by the reception site.

What sort of flowers are you looking for?  I'm using Belli Fiori, Lisa has been great to work with.  How large is your reception and do you have any ideas what you want to do for centerpieces?

I am using Chic Events by Angie... she gets RAVE reviews on a lot of the wedding boards.  She seems very passionate and is super budget friendly!  Her prices are the best around and her flowers are as good as Walter Knoll's!  If you are searching for a florist, I recommend you at least give her a chance for a consultation.... you may be surprised at how much she can save you!

I ended up looking on Proflowers and got linked to Bridesign for our flowers.  I was SO nervous about using flowers from an online vendor but decided to go with my gut feeling and use them.  I am SO glad that we did.  Our flowers were beyond fresh when our date got here, we had them all in hand two days before so I knew what they looked like and didn't have to worry about someone not getting them where I needed them to be on time because of another wedding or whatever, the site has a double backup plan in case your flowers don't arrive in the condition they should and they called me within fifteen minutes of them hitting my front door, literally, to make sure that everything was just as I wanted it.  They have packages that you have to stick to as far as number of pieces, but there are lots to choose from so you can get exactly what you need or want by mixing and matching.  Our roses came to the door looking exactly like the website and they stayed beautiful for two weeks after the wedding.  HIGHLY recommend these people!  So many of my friends have had wedding pictures with wilty or just not very fresh looking flowers, and we didn't have that problem at all.  Even our photog asked who did them because she said she hasn't seen many flowers that fresh.  She sees weddings every single weekend.  That was enough to seal it for me that we made the right choice.  :-)  Also, they would very easily be able to accomodate you last minute as they are such a large company.  Hope this helps!

I'm using Victoria Cripps.  She is just doing flowers on the side for now, but I've read wonderful reviews about her and her prices were great.   You can email her at vfcripps@sbcglobal.net.

Give Angie a call... she doesn't get the best internet reception in her location.  She usually will respond within one day to phone calls... e-mails may take her longer.

I am also using Chic Events by Angie. Pricing is amazing and she was really nice. She's not really the e-mailing type, so I would definitely call her. I had to e-mail her a few times, and was kinda stern on my last e-mail, and she got back to me ASAP after that. Sometimes people in the wedding business are busy and yeah, their time is vaulable, but last time I checked on it, the brides time is also valuable and I sure am busy!
