How many cookies?

We are having a casual reception, with homemade root beer & ice cream for floats.  We really like the idea of a cookie table, but I'm not sure how many dozen we would need.  We want to have this as an alternative to cake, and have little bags so the guests could take some home as favors if they want.  My cousins did this a while ago, and it was a huge hit.

We are expecting about 90-95 adults and kids total.

I've also seen where some people make the cookie table into a contest.  Guests can bring their signature cookie (instead of a gift) and everyone votes.  The winner gets a fun prize.   Do you know anyone who has tried this?

Re: How many cookies?

  • Don't make people bring cookies to your wedding. Getting dressed up + getting gift/card + getting to strange place(s) on time + getting together cookies = way too much effort

Why not ask your cousin her cookie : guest ratio?
  • Honestly I would suggest two servings of cookies if you are doing take home bags. This however depends on how big the cookies are. LARGE someone might take 2-4...tiny like keebler might take 10.

  • I agree with PP about not having your guests bring cookies.  I'm planning on having a cookie bar at my wedding with about 5-6 different kinds of cookies that I will make myself.  I plan on having enough for everyone to take at least one type of each cookie.
