Offbeat ceremony venues

I am a little ticked off that all the churches and halls and whatnot that do ceremonies want a thousand bucks for it. We'll be standing there at their altar or under their trees for about half an hour. I would rather the money go to feeding/liquoring people at the reception!

Name me some places that allow ceremonies but don't do it often enough to have ridiculous fees. I read on OffbeatBride that this can be done but I can't find any such places in Toronto. Parks, theaters, anything. Thanks

The easiest solution I can think of would be to have your ceremony at your reception venue. Since you have to book it anyway, I bet most venues would let you tack it on for free or a minimal cost.

Oh yeah, I know -- I'm just thinking, if we can bring the officiant to a location that doesn't cost much, that would be cool.

My top choice for venue at the moment only charges $200 for a ceremony on site. Only problem is they don't allow music at the ceremony (I think it's because of noise issues -- they're surrounded by condo buildings and the ceremony spot is an outside courtyard, or something like that).

I'm wondering if I could rent picnic space or something at a park, and do the deed there. Thanks all.

We were originally looking to do our ceremony outdoors, but then changed our mind.  If you still want to do that, this site might help:  http://weddingparks.ca/component/option,com_hotproperty/task,view/id,3/Itemid,64/
