Italian Tradition...Jordan Almond Favors

Hi All,

Just wanted an opinion....Is anyone attaching Jordan Almonds to their Wedding favors or is that considered too old school?  The old Italian tradition is to attach the 5almonds in a tool bag to your favor and each has a special meaning: health, wealth, happiness, long life and children.  It's suppose to be good luck.  I haven't seen it in a while, but I thought it is a cute tradition.

Anyone consider doing this for their wedding?  Thanks!

We did it for ours but followed the Greek tradition of seven for the sacraments.

I am not doing it, but I think it's a cute idea. I think you should go for it! Just include a little note as to why there is only 5 almonds.

my family is greek and italian. sooooo we feel kind of obligated! haha

we bought these little organza 'trees' to hold the almonds and be a little different than just having them in bags. =)  we're also going to attach a card of their meanings

That is a really cute idea!! I've seen those, I was thinking about doing something like that and attaching the card....Are you attaching them on top of a favor?  I was thinking of just giving it as a small extra favor on top of my other one..

we're going kind of overboard on the favors. haha  each person receives:

    -  a little organza bag with a set of personalized wine charms
    -  the almond 'tree/bouquet'  which we'll probably just lean up against the bag.
underneath both will be a card to explain the symbolism behind the almonds and the charms and thanking the guest for being a part of our day.
    -  at the dessert table, will be small 4x4x2 boxes to take home cookies or cake.

they have a couple different shapes of almond holders. some are in a flower shape, some are more tree or bouquet like. google can show you. lol
