So, in planning for our vacation to Kauai and Maui, I realized something...

... just about all of my plans revolve around where I want to eat.

No. Seriously. I have no idea when we'll next be back, and I really want to make sure I hit up some top spots.

So, anything I should add onto my list? I need at least one more place on Kauai... I'm slowly crossing off restaurants that belong to the 12 pioneers of Hawaiian Regional Cusisine too... so bonus points for that!

    Oh bloody hell. I hate using these antiquated operating systems at work. NOTHING works on the Knot from my computer here.

    You know, it's so old, it doesn't even recognize DVDs.

    </div><div>On Kauai, if you're in the Princeville area, I'd recommend brunch/lunch at Makana Terrace (St. Regis)....the views are simply breathtaking.  The Kauai Grill is a nice dinner spot too...we didn't get to try it, but heard rave reviews.</div><div>
    </div><div>Duke's at the Kauai Marriott was excellent (Hula Pie, OMG!!).  Since we stayed in Kauai Marriott for a couple of days, Kalapaki Grill offered a Japanese buffet one of the nights (can't remember which) and it was surprisingly good!</div><div>
    </div><div>On Maui, one of the lesser-known restaurants we went to was Cuatro Restaurant.  It's located in a stripmall in Kihei, so no views to offer...but if you're a foodie, you'll appreciate the cuisine.  The fish dishes were seriously the best we've ever had on the island!  So award-worthy!  Prices were reasonable too...</div><div>

    This thread is making me crazy hungry at 7am.  Ladies, I think we would be fabulous friends in real life.  Food.  Food.  Food.  Food.  NOM.

    Amen!!! I am doing the same around Honolulu.  Any suggestions? I am debating about renting a car while on the Island to hit more places to eat.

    kaesha - On Kauai, the Bull Shed in Waiopouli is where a lot of locals eat for a "nice steak dinner" - the decor IMO was pretty old, but I think its one of those places where it doesn't matter!! :) Plus there is a small salad bar I believe with every meal.

    cshuler - Definitely rent a car! :) You will see a whole lot more of Oahu that way. How long will you be here? I can give you a laundry list of places to try - both nice and "hole in the wall". What kinda food are you interested in?

    HaYnCaNdi - I would love a list of place in Oahu!!  We are going there for our honeymoon and I know Maui, but not Oahu at all.  Any help on anywhere good to eat or something cool to do, I would love to hear!

    On Maui I reccomend Cafe O'Lei -- we love their Mahi Mahi and their caesar salads!!

    A great breakfast spot on Oahu is Eggs n Things! Always a must-stop for us when in Waikiki. Macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup...nom nom nom :) Get there early -- the place is tiny and always jam-packed! http://www.eggsnthings.com/

    We did the 7 course tasting menu at Alan Wong's on Oahu and it was TO DIE FOR.

    No. Seriously. I thought I was going to explode.

    But every mouthful was sooooo tasty. It was worth it.

    Especially the butter poached lobster.

    Cuatro is really good! I also love the food at Threes. Those are my new two favorites for really good food that's worth the money.  Like a "making love to your food" moment, good.

    I am getting married at Plantation Gardens on Kauai.  Has anyone been there?  Thoughts?  Opinions?
