Rehearsal Dinner

What did you do for yours?

I'm so excited right now, because after much searching, I think I just found the perfect place.  It lets us rent out this great pavilion, have alcohol, bring in outside catering (At least I'm pretty sure - we want a specific bbq place.), and, as an added bonus, has free paddle-boating, volleyball court, horse shoes, and catch and release fishing.  FI really wanted a picnic-like atmosphere, since, frankly, that would be his ideal wedding, and I wanted to give him that for the RD.

Anyway, I'm freaking out over this, and FI is at work right now, so I can't share the good news with him yet.  Tell me what yours was/will be like!

Re: Rehearsal Dinner

  • I had no input in our RD, except that I wanted something relaxed and that a sports theme was fine.

We had it at our church, it was just burgers and such. Really low key, which was exactly what I wanted.
  • We will be having ours on the beach on Memorial day weekend. Flip flops and grilling out! Very relaxed.
  • We got a party room at Calhoun's, a really nice barbecue restaurant. The in-laws did great, it was a blast.
  •  FI's parents set it all up, which I am thankful for, but we both had input. We are having a cocktail/hourdourves/finger food RD due to when our church rehearsal has to be. Our rehearsal is at 6:30 and really wanted dinner afterwards, so that is why we decided to do it this way bc I wanted to relax and enjoy time with family/friends before the wedding esp since we leave the next day for the honeymoom. It is at an old historic restaurant close to where we are getting married called The Red Brick Tavern. We are having wine on all the tables and other alcohol will be a cash bar kinda thing.
  • That sounds like a wonderful RD. We considered Dave & Buster's for ours, but then decided to do it as our afterparty instead.

We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant and had the patio to ourselves. DH's grandmother passed out in the middle and we had to cut it short. She was fine, but it was scary for a little while.

  • We are going to an old cowboy BBQ place where we will have a BBQ Buffet dinner.  They have horse shoes, line dancing and a live country band.  You can even ride your horse there and hitch it outside!  This is was old Phoenix was like and this place has done a great job keeping that look up.  It will be fun and relaxed, which is exactly what I wanted since the wedding is formal.
  • We've rented the patio at a cool italian place that happens to be next door to the tux shop, which makes it easy for all the OOT guys to get their tuxes.

We have about 2 weeks to get the menu sorted out.  I haven't thought about the RD since we signed the rental contract in January.  aaaaaaggggghhhhhh!
