Anthony's Ocean View

We have just booked our wedding reception at Anthony's Ocean View. Ever since I was little, I have always pictured myself getting married in the church where I grew up in. However, we are now considering getting married at Anthony's on their beach. Our wedding is a Thursday (we checked with relatives before booking so it will not be a problem) and in order to make it more convenient for them (especially for people traveling), we thought it might be easier to just get married there. The beach will be beautiful if the weather is nice, but if it happens to be raining, the ceremony will be moved into the same room in which we will all be eating, which I am not a fan of. We all know you cannot rely on weather so this is something that I have to seriously consider.

How many of you have been to weddings at Anthony's?  Was it indoors or outdoors? Does anyone have advice on what I should do?

I have been to a wedding there on a thursday actually and the weather was perfect. The ceremony was outside. The wedding was in june.
  • Unless your church is really far away from Anthony's, I don't think it'd be a problem for your guests to drive between the two. If you've always dreamed of getting married in your church, I wouldn't risk the weather on that now!

Congratulations on booking your venue, though!
  • That just made me feel so much better! My wedding is in June too! Thank you for your input!

  • Any more opinions / experiences?
  • Just make sure everyone plans for rushhour traffic for the Thursday. My wedding is on a Thursday too at Amarante's next door to Anthonys and I made sure people knew its going to be a zoo getting there for 6 pm.

  • I've been to a wedding there 2 years ago and the couple got married in a church that was 30 minutes away. No one saw it as a problem and everyone had a great time. The food was soo good!

  • I am getting married at Anthony's this year - early September. My ceremony will be out on the beach. I did have some concerns about weather and whatnot, but my FI and I want a pretty laid back wedding, and we don't especially care if we have to go indoors for it in case of bad weather.
I agree with PP - if your dream is to get married in a church, go for it! I'm sure there are some places you can find nearby. My dream has always to get married barefoot on a sandy beach, so the possibility of rain is going to be there no matter where I go.
  • Has anyone ever experienced any issues with noise at Anthony's from other ceremonies taking place at the same time? I am wondering about both outside in the garden and inside downstairs with only a wall dividing the two halves of the room. Thanks!
  • Hi, we are getting married in Anthony's next month and Im thinking if doing it in the waterfall. I was just wondering if any of you had their wedding at their waterfall too and how did it look like?

    Appreciate your responses! Thanks :)
  • A few years ago I went to a wedding at Anthony's and there was another beach ceremony happening immediately after my friend's, but slightly down the beach.  The guests of the other wedding were respectful but it still felt so odd to have people standing around, only a few yards away, waiting for the second ceremony.  Also, immediately after the couple was pronounced married, a few workers ran up, grabbed the archway, and moved it to the second ceremony site!  They hadn't even turned to go back down the aisle yet!  I will say that the reception and food was spectacular, but the ceremony had such a "wedding factory" feel to it.  I would talk to the coordinator there and just make sure nothing like this happens to you.  Good luck!
