tipping advice needed

Hello:

I've checked the etiquette board and my wedding month board, but I want some advice from ladies who live near me. :-)

My reception is at The Grand in Covington. The contract states that gratuity is at the host's discretion.

I know that we'll have 2 bartenders, a coat check, and several servers. (I don't know how many.) There is also the lady who is employed by The Grand to coordinate for us.

How much should I tip? Who gets a tip?  Any advice is welcomed.

Thank you!

It was included in my contract (I did not get married where you are). Check to make sure it isn't included in yours before you tip extra. Ours was an 18% gratuity added on to the full service price.

Ours was included in our contract (18% I think), but we also gave our venue coordinator and the captain an extra $100 each I think because they both did an amazing job.

i'm used to venues charging 18-20% gratuity, adding it automatically to your bill. in those cases you need to find out whether that gratuity is actually given to the bartenders and servers who work your event. if it doesn't go to the workers, then you tip them separately.

in your case, i'd give the bartenders, coat check, and servers $20-30 and maybe $50 to the coordinator

OUrs is not included either and I am going to ask how many people are working my event and then give an envelope full of that many $20 bills (or however much we decide to give)

We are planning on tipping all of our vendors since they are all working hard on our day for us. (unless they dont...lol) My sister in law did this for her vendors and I thought it seems right to do. :-)
