Catalina Island Tips

I'm considering a short honeymoon on Catalina Island and was wondering if anyone had any tips or experiences to share.  Specifically on places to stay that have a honeymoon package or romantic things to do there.  Thanks! :)  We'll be going in late August.

    I've visited Catalina Island about 3-4 times, but never stayed overnight, so I can't help you too much, but I wanted to tell you a few things.

    First off, have you ever been before? I've always arrived there via the Catalina Express. The ride is a little expensive, but a nice, relatively short smooth ride there. I would suggest getting tickets in advance instead of the day of.

    I briefly looked at tripadvisor about lodging. The top B&B is the Inn on Mt. Ada. And the top hotel is the Avalon Hotel. Not sure of your budget, so I'd suggest looking on trip advisor or frommer's or something like that for input.

    I've eaten at the Descanso Beach Club for lunch. Good food, better view! I've had drinks at El Galleon. Very nice atmosphere there.


    Activities wise: I've always liked walking around in the shops. There's always the beach. (Also parasailing or scuba diving and kayaks too)  I know there is a new Zip Line. We usually also rent the golf carts and tour the island that way.

    I know that's not too much info. But you'll have a great time whatever you do. :)

    I would recommend the catalina wine mixer. amazing.
