Need Help figuring out my COLORS!

So I thought I had my colors all figured out. I am having a fall wedding and I thought I would just go with red dresses and fall colored flowers to match. However, when looking into up lighting I hated the way the red looked in the room so I figured I had to change it to gold. Now I am doubting all my colors and would possibly like to change them to gold.

However, as you all are aware black and gold = Steelers colors ( I am not against this as I know some knotties have done this in the past!) I just don't want this for my wedding. How can I incorporate gold or brown dresses into my bridal party? What color vests would the men then wear? I was always taught black and brown don't go together so I am really struggling with this.

If you have got through this whole post congrats! and thanks for reading...

What about red and gold?  That's very fall, they look nice together, and your girls can still wear red dresses (but your uplighting can be gold).

Gold is nice, but doesn't look good on all skin tones in terms of dresses.  I don't like black and brown together, but I've seen it done with a tux/vest combo before.

I agree with mdphd. I think red dresses with the fall colored flowers would be really nice. You could incorporate some gold colored flowers in your BMs bouquets and in the centerpieces to tie together the gold up lighting.

You could also do bronze instead of brown.

thanks girls this is along the lines of what ive been thinking. I'm still stuck on red dresses and thought maybe incorporating gold sashes and red/gold etc flowers ( my flowers will be red roses). I also looked at bronze but I still think it might be too close too black and gold....( I have this irrational fear with everyone thinking it will be a Steelers wedding :(

    Thanks!

IMO, I don't think the uplighting needs to match the attire.  As long as it coordinates with the overall color scheme, which gold does with reds and fall colors, then it should look great!

My wedding is fall as well (this October!) and my colors are deep red and vibrant orange. My girls are wearing deep red dresses (Alfred Angelo's Claret) and their flowers will be all orange. The colors actually look quite lovely together.

    Thanks everyone!

@carlyanne-- You are right and I agree if the room is gold then it should work fine with my other colors.

I don't know why I'm having such a hard time with this.

@ eddies girl- you would think so wouldn't you? I'm sure they will too--especially my MOH ( eddiesgirl is my MOH for those who don't know)

@edielaura-- thanks!! I was sold on doing gold and told my fiance and we so excited. I couldn't understand why and then he filled me in....he thought we were having a black and gold wedding...I changed my mind pretty quickly after that lol.

What if the brown were an espresso shade? That would look nice with gold.  Or the red like a brick color? Or apple red.
