Stressed to the MAX....

in April 2012 Weddings

My wedding is next weekend - April 28th.  I can't believe how fast time has gone by and I only have 11 days left.  Between finalizing all the wedding stuff, work, and trying to keep both families happy - I think I have reached my limit.  I worked 13 hours today and I came home to my FI flooding me with questions about transportation plans for the wedding (which was actually the only task I assigned to him).  I know everyone says that the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding are the worst - but that doesn't make me feel better.  I'm not even excited for the wedding - I just want all this to be over.

    I have been feeling the same way (also wedding Apr 28) - I just try to remind myself that the little things don't matter, and all that matters is that FI and I get married and start a new chapter in our lives. I hope that some of the stress ends up going away for you - but I can definitely relate on just wanting to have some alone time w/ FI and downtime w/out having to worry about work or the wedding.

    I totally understand the FI issue. I didn't give my FI many responsibilities because he is such a slacker & procrastinator that it will never get done. I have to remind him constantly to do it. For that, I might as well do it myself! Depending on what the task is, I'd be inclined to just do it myself to get it out of the way. It's not worth the headache of not knowing whether your FI has any idea what he's doing.

    Rlavach said it perfectly.  My fiance is exactly like that too.  I asked him to do a few simple tasks and we had a lot of arguments over it since they weren't done in the timeframe I would have liked.

    Moral of the Story:  Men really have no clue about weddings and they really don't take it as serious as we do.  Their minds don't work like ours.  They are excited to marry us - but all the little details really mean nothing to them (at least a majority of them).

    The last two weeks are the most stressful but just keep in mind the whole point of this day is to marry your love!!  If something goes wrong or isn't perfect most people wont even notice.  Just breathe!  You will get through this!!  Smile

    I feel this way too! And one thing that bugs me is how other people will be like "oh so all the planning is pretty much done right?" NO! There are still a million loose ends that need to be tied together! I'm looking forward to the actual wedding day (mine is April 29th.) But I tell people that I can't wait for the planning part to be over with!

    It will be ok.  Don't sweat it. Men cannot help how they are... we love them anyway, don't we?

    </div><div>Regarding my FI, my prediction is coming true. I gave him a list of 12 things to do that he promised to get done 3 weeks ago, then 2 weeks ago, then again 1 week ago. He's knocked off a few, but not all. His family arrived yesterday and I knew that this week would be crazy for him because he'll be preoccupied with his family & won't have time to do what I need him to do. Exactly as I predicted. I just want to strangle him!!!</div>

    In reality it's probably not as bad as I think it is. And I am lucky enough to have people helping me. I know everything will get done but it still stresses me out. That's great that you are all done though!

    I'm sure it's not as bad as you think. At the beginning of the week I was still in the 'omg, I have so much to do, AH, go go go' mode. Then after a few days I realized that I've just been stuck in that mode for so long that I couldn't recognize that I really don't need that anymore. This is it! The wedding is here! Try to do what you can this week so that you can relax more next week. It will be so worth it.

    Jeslyn, I understand how you feel.  Just remember that we're almost done with planning.  Maybe you and your FI can have a final date night where you do nothing wedding related, just hang out together.  Even if it was just dinner, I find that when we take a wedding timeout I feel much better and less likely to kill the next person who asks me if we're ready to do this.

    I haven't felt the stress yet until today! Found out my RD dress isn't coming at all, 3 people backed out today and a groomsmen hasn't even gotten his suit yet and won't be able to try it on until Tuesday and it needs to be fitted. YAYYYY

    I am so with y'all -- my wedding is the 21st and there are still SOOOOO many details to finish.  Friend flying in on Friday, soon-to-be stepdaughter flying in tomorrow night, trying to fit too many things into too little time.

    No use in asking anyone else to help, too much work to make sure they're getting done.  My fiance has been absolutely wonderful with helping and planning == I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't have counted on his help!Laughing

    <div align="left">Me too. 3 days to go and this week has been hectic between hair, tanning, nails, packing stuff, getting rings cleaned, picking up dress from being steamed, dropping stuff off at the church, rehearsal and reception and about 20 people coming in from out of town and having to pick some up from the airport and working full-time on top of it all....I thought i was done with everything a few weeks ago but the last week wrapping everything up has been tiresome. </div>

    I am sorry to hear that so many of you are also stressing but I have to admit - it's comforting to know I am not alone in this stress and all!
