Not sure if such a venue exists

My fiance and I want a unique venue where we can bring in our own food and booze.  Does such a thing exist in Michigan (or anywhere)?  I don't have any friends with large homes.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks so much!

I'm on a similar search for a unique venue. It's harder than it sounds.

Detroit Players is a really different kind of a venue.  They charge for the use of the building and all the rooms separately.  I know they let you bring in your own booze, but I'm not sure about the food.  We love this place, but we're hesitant about it mostly becuase of size. Seats 120 max.

    Good luck in your search!

My reception is at the Piquette Plant/T Plex. It is the original Model T factory in Detroit, and it's very unique. It's also HUGE. You bring in all your own rentals- they do offer tables and chairs, but you supply everything else. It's very inexpensive as well. PM me if you'd like more info! :)

Try meadow brook... I believe you can just rent the space, but I am not completely positive. Also try Pine Knob.

Hi! I don't have any suggestions, but do you have a budget and estimated guest count? That will help us. Welcome to the board :)

I posted on the post you moved from Reception Ideas. My input is the Belle Isle Casino and also local metroparks if you're looking to do something outside.

I agree it would help to know guest count and budget.

Check the stickies at the top with the yellow post pins. My venue, Greenmead in Livonia only supplies the buildings (chapel and banquet facility), but there's a max capacity of 100. They do have lovely grounds however, if you wanted to have an outdoor reception and pay for tents.

My bio link below has a vendor link with info on all my vendors.

Our count is 220 and budget is 28k (although we'de like to spend less if possible).  We fell in love with Lovett Hall at the Henry Ford Museum, but it's 25k to have a Sat wedding (no matter your guest count - with fees and tax) and we decided it wasn't worth it.  I would love to rent a private home for the wedding, but not sure if that's possible or how to go about doing it.  I'm not a fan of the usual wedding venues (banquet halls, country clubs, etc) - I'm tired of all the rules and crazy prices.  Thanks for all your help!

</div><div>i second this. i'm having both my ceremony and reception here. i'm very anti-banquet hall, and as soon as i saw bamross post about this place a while back, i went to check it out. they've turned it into a museum, so there are a bunch of model t cars on display, you even have the option to make your entrance into the reception hall in a model t! its very affordable, you bring in your own caterer and drinks, you decorate and arrange things however you want. the MAJOR plus i found was that you basically get a week in the venue. you can start setting up a few days beforehand, and you have have a couple days to get everything cleared out again.

The Detroit Historical Museum is a really unique option. I have done events there professionally and they will work with you on all aspects of your event.

Someone I know just got married there and loved it with only one exception. The place doesnt have air, SO if you plan on getting married when its hot out you may need to think about renting fans and air conditoners. Thats what they ended up doing but it was still almost unbearable. I would just keep that in mind. They did however give the guests rides in old model t's which was a complete surprise to the bride and groom because they just did it for them at no cost.

We are doing it at the Belle Isle Casino. You bring in everything yourselves except the tables and chairs they have and provide.
