Need some gifts advice!

Ok. So  my boss (and friend) of mine is marrying my FI and I. Would a gift card to like a restaurant be ok? If so, how much? I have no concept of what to do for gifts for people. Also, would it be ok for my parents' gifts: finding really pretty frames for them and telling them I will get a one of our wedding photos of their choice for the frame. Is that ok? So lost! :)

Thanks!

  • I think both of things are good ideas. For the restaurant GC, I'd say probably about $100? I don't really have a good yardstick for how much is appropriate to give in these situations, either, heh.

I wish I had done the frame & photo option for parents' gifts. They would have liked it much, much more than the random things we ended up getting them.

We gave our officiant who is a family friend on the groom's side a $100 gift card to a very nice restaurant...enough for him and his wife to each have an entree and then possibly appetizer and dessert, bottle of wine, or some other extras.  I gave the mothers embroidered hankies in case they started crying during the ceremony LOL.  I think you're on the right track with your ideas!

Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

For the gift card amount, I would choose a restaurant, and then give an amount that would cover a full meal there.  What people consider a full meal varies, but we did app, entree, dessert, and drink for two people for the gc we're giving the priest who prepared us.
