Bridal Shower Etiquette

Quick question

We were thinking of sending the Wedding invites July as our wedding is in September. My MIL told me yesterday she wants to have the shower no later than July.

Should the wedding invites be sent out and received prior to the Bridal Shower invites?

Does it really matter?

I need to know if this is a major etiquette flaw.

    As long as those people do eventually get wedding invites, you're okay. :)
