Reception Crisis PLEASE HELP!

Apparently we are double booked--- really? Don't ask me how this happens....

Does anyone know of anywhere off the beaten path in DSM? I have called literally all of the main attractions in DSM, Ankeny, Grimes, Waukee, etc... EVERYWHERE--

All of our other vendors are booked for October 1- so we cannot really just change dates- Any ideas would help my huge bridezilla moment!!

Have you tried Hoyt Sherman Place?  My rehearsal dinner is there the night before.  What about the Scottish Rite Temple?  The new Des Moines Embassy Club in West Glen should be open...

I'm not sure how many people you are wanting to invite, etc.  Have you tried the Drury Inn in WDSM?  Ours is at the Holiday Inn at Jordan Creek, but we had considered Drury Inn (just wasn't big enough).

What about the Capitol Room downtown?

    Good luck!!

There is also the Walnut Woods State Park Lodge (not sure how large your wedding is).  Des Moines Botanical Gardens.  Toad Valley Golf Course.  Copper Creek Golf Course. Jasper Winery.  Blank Park Zoo. Tournament Club of Iowa. Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.  Foxboro in Johnston.  Summerset Winery in Indianola.  Simpson Barn in Johnston.  Living History Farms.  Lotus Moments Event Center. Sticks Design Studios.

    Hope you find something!!

There is kinda a cool place in norwalk called The Happy Apple - they might be worth calling?  They have a little patio and bonfire and pond in the back...  We looked at it but didn't choose it simply because they didn't have a liquor license - only wine/beer

Check out this link!!  There's a photo gallery--it looks AWESOME.  I just noticed this featured in the DSM Register today :-)

That sucks.  I would be freaking out right now too.  PP had a bunch of great ideas.  I would just add pretty much any hotel in the Des Moines and surrounding area I would check out.  Stoney Creek Inn is one we looked at and the Hilton Garden Inn of 86th in Johnston is another.  Let us know what you come up with!

My friend helps run the Granger Community Center just north of Des Moines.  I haven't personally seen it, but she says it is a lovely place with good rates.  You can give her a call at 515.999.2275  Her namd is Sarah.  Your date is also available.

Hope this will help you out!!

I am having my reception at the Granger community center in June... they are very resonable and great to work with!  I just booked there in January so I know they had quite a few openings.

Oh my goodness! Where was it supposed to be? I second just starting with hotels. I'd also try golf courses.

I'm doing zart1312 in May 2012. It's down town and a newer venue. You literally just rent the space so you can bring in all the venders/caterers etc you already have booked. Marybeth is GREAT to work with too. Here's their website:

    zart1312.com

    She's on facebook too.

Try the FFA Enrichment center in Ankeny. It's on the DMACC campus.
