I don't think you can say whether it is too much, until you look at the total cost, and what that cost covers, not just the rental cost.  For example, we paid $750 for the rental, but were allowed to bring in our own food, linens, lighting, and decorations, and paid only $250 for open bar for 60 people for five hours.  That would be a much better deal than a place with the same rental cost that required use of a high-priced caterer, and renting all the linens, lighting, and decorations.

I would check to see what the cost of their approved caterer is, and what their limitations are on bringing in other items you might want (e.g., lighting)  before making a decision.

What is "too much" really depends on your budget. My best advice is find a place that you really like that fits within your budget.

Here are some questions I've found to be helpful in the vedor searching process:
    - Ask about service charges on top of the other fees they tell you about. If they have an on-site caterer, ask about the % gratuity that is added. It wouldn't hurt to ask if they have this information for a required outside caterer, but a lot of places have told me that I have to contact the caterer directly for this.
    - Also ask if there is a minimum head count or $ amount for catering.
    - Ask about the cake cutting fee if you bring your own cake.
    - Bartender & other attendant/server fees
    - Is there someone there who can set up decorations?
    - Is there a charge for parking?
    - Vendor restrictions for things like a DJ, florist, etc.
    - Candle and other decoration restrictions
    - Flexibility with space setup - our venue that we are 99% sure we are choosing has half of the tables bolted in the floors (because it's historic and slightly slanted), so those can't be moved. It's also a good thing to ask about if there are pictures or other fixtures throughout your venue that you might want to move.
    - What deposit is required to reserve the space?

Definitely shop around before you make a final decision.

I'm glad that at least you were able to get the answers you needed about the total cost.

I think I have found the place I want to take my cousin with me to llok at it and see she might have Ideas to divide the room up and how to transform the room to work for us. I thinking of divideing the room in two and have the cermony on one side and the recption set up on the othr side then opening the whole room after the cermony. Any ideas on how to do this will be appericated.

You could ask the coordinator for the venue. Where we're having our reception, it's a huge room that is way too big for the amount of people we're having. They have a divider that cuts the room into two to make it much more manageable for a smaller gathering. The venue you're looking at might have something similar to divide it until the ceremony is over. Or they might have ideas of other ways. Good luck! :)
