Wedding Website mini vent

Does  no one look at a wedding website?  Ugh!  We take the time and energy to design a beautiful, useful website for our wedding guests so that all of the information they could possibly need to know is accessible right there.  We sent out STD's with the website on them.  Our invites had the website on them.  I constantly get people asking me questions that the answers are clearly stated on the website.

"Where are the hotel blocks?"  It's on the website.  Hotel names, prices, contact info, and even a map.

"We're upset because we never got to see engagement pictures!"  Really?  Did you not get our save the date in the mail?  "We did."  Well, our engagement pictures have been up on our website for months.

It's just annoying that we as brides often take the time to make things as easy as possible for our guests, and they're clueless.

Re: Wedding Website mini vent

  • I also decided that it might have been a complete waste of time too. My mom made me make one with the basic information and it literally took me like 12 hours on a Saturday. I mentioned the site to FILs and they gave me this blank look. And I'm like, "You know, the site on the STD...that's hanging on your fridge." More blank looks. Asked their daughter, even SHE didn't see it.

I decided that people do not read ANYTHING completely. Nothing. They aren't even going to read the entire invitation.

  • Oh yes, we've had this too.  Which hotels do you have blocked off?  How do we get there?  Which airport should we fly into?  Which train station do we go to?  What's the number for the taxi company, or the rental car agency?  Where did you register?  Oh, there's a barbecue the following day, too?

Yes people!  It's all on the website - you know, the one that was on the save the date on your fridge, and the one that was on the invitation.  And most likely the one I've already told you about in regards to your other 2-3 questions!

    Anniversary

  • Right there with you ladies!  It has been very frustrating, especially since we are having destination wedding of sorts so we mailed out save the dates earlier than normal to allow people time to plan.  this was on top of emails and conversations with people about making the trip. So, I just smile and answer the questions. :)
  • Our website was on the STDs and is also on the insert cards on the invitation, and I had someone text me and said "what time is the wedding?  Do you have directions" .   Well, the website has all of that information, and the directions was on the insert card and the TIME was on the friggin invitation !!!   DO YOU PEOPLE READ??
  • Our STDs were 2-sided, and our website was on the back. I know quite a few people who never turned the STD over. You're right, people don't read. I just sent out my invitations today, so I'm bracing myself now for the onslaught of ridiculous questions I'm inevitably going to get.
    Anniversary
  • This, totally.  I've gotten "I had no idea what was in the food options," even though we have full descriptions and even photos online.  I've gotten "where in the park is the ceremony?" even though that's written down, with meticulously detailed directions.  And I've gotten "what's the hotel code again?" even though that's on there, too.  And this came from people who were like "oh yeah, I looked at the website"... and then asked something that was clearly written on there.

  • I found the solution to that problem when I kept getting the phone calls. Every time someone called about a wedding question, I turn on my "automated machine" voice. If you care to find out additonal information in regards to the wedding, please visit________gave the website name. Those phone calls turned into emails and text messages, wow the website is great and thanks for doing this. My response, ummm next time READ the WHOLE piece of paper I sent in the mail or do you just glace at it unless its a bill to pay.

  • Same here!  Whenever someone e-mails or texts a question I just respond with a link, I got FI on the same page finally.  They will use the darn website one way or another!
  • Yes! I feel like a broken record. It's on the website. It's on the Hotel Accommodations page on the website. Even more annoying is when my dad forwards me emails and texts with these questions that can easily be answered on the website. Just tell them to look at the website!! I spent hours and hours on it people!
