Has anyone ever done Laser tattoo removal? I have a tattoo that I got when I was 18 that I absolutely HATE lol. Young & dumb moment, so I am getting it removed. I have already started my treatments but it kinda looks like my skin will be lighter in that area & I have heard thats a possibility on African American skin...Just wondering if anyone has done it or know anyone that has & if so did u/they have any issues? Any suggested remedies??

    I am in the process of having one of my tattoos removed. I started a year ago and it still isn't gone. When I initially went in for my consultation I was told that because I am dark skinned it will take double the treatments since if they go full force it can remove the pigment out of your skin.

    So far I have had 10 laser treatments and it's faded a lot. I haven't lost any of my color in that area either. I usually wait 6-8 weeks in between treatments for all the layers of skin to heal before getting another one. If you are lighter it should be able to be removed a lot sooner.

    I'm not sure if you are looking into aestichians, tattoo removal shops or dermatologist but I would go with a dermatologist. I had consultations with both and felt the most comfortable with the Dr since he seemed more knowledgeable.

    Thank you so much! I go to a dermatologist too, I agree that they seem a bit more knowledgeable. I just got my 2nd treatment & it has faded a lot already just after the 1st treatment which was shocking to me & the Dr actually. Parts of the tattoo have faded completely already. I just got the 2nd one so it's healing now, but some parts of my skin look lighter. Hopefully it will regain color completely after it's done healing. Thanks again for your post!!
