Ever put any IKEA furniture together?

Oh. my. gosh.

My 65 year old grandpa came up to help me move furniture from the old apartment to the new one (just down the hall). And we had a van full of other furniture I was given to put into the apartment. Oh, and the bed we just bought from IKEA.

The bed took 3 hours to put together. Everything you could do backwards, we did. And the headboard took longer to put together than the stupid frame!

Holy smokes, I'm tired!

Congrats on the new place! Yeah... as much as I love IKEA.. I also hate assembling their stuff. Let's just say that one of our bookcases from there is their "black-brown" and all the shelves and the entire thing is black-brown, except for the bottom shelf which is in backwards and is showing wood grain and it really sticks out compared to the rest of it being correct. I asked DH to fix it and he looked at me with horror on his face and said, "I am not taking that apart again and putting it back together!" LOL

I haven't but I have bought things at Lowe's and Target that needed to be assembled and I hated it!  When I bought my bike, I had my 10 year old nephew come over with his tools and it was assembled in no time.  He even took part of it apart after I sat on it and then reassembled it because it was not perfectly straight.  Oh, and he helped me assemble something when he was just 3.  Some people were just made for that sort of thing.  I'm definitely not!

P.S.  I would advise against jumping on the bed just in case.  Laughing

<div>haha! So glad it's not me! My FI has this thing about jumping on beds. Until just recently, I was sleeping in the bed that my grandmother and grandfather bought when they were first married. Every time FI would come over, he'd jump on it. I was so afraid he'd break something since it was so old. </div>

hahahaha.. I am not laughing at you - but I am laughing because H and I put together a bedroom set about 3 weeks ago and we wanted to destroy it and strangle each other by the end of it all! They have great stuff but man.... I wish it came all put together.

Yeah, the same manufacturers that build stuff for IKEA, also have stuff at Walmart and Target.  I currently have a bed, two end tables, a dresser, a desk, and a TV stand that were all bought from Walmart and Target a year ago.  FI helped with some of it, but I put most of it together myself.  I have grown up with DIY assembly furniture, so it's NBD for me.  FI and I almost killed each other when he helped though, lol.

Drama, totally! It doesn't have a mattress yet, so it's just sitting in the bedroom bare bones. Lol. Hopefully we'll get a mattress soon...

Never have - haven't even been yet. I promise FI and I are planning to go up there sometime. Hopefully soon.

I'm mainly threadjacking to tell you that your e-pics are adorable and I wish I would have thought to bring Scrabble or some other board game with us for ours. Great pictures!

I would have thought the fram would take the longest!

It took us 3 hours to put together DH's new desk.  I like putting things together though.  My roommate in college came back from break once with shelves to put together.  She went to a sorority meeting, and I put them together while she was gone.  Don't worry, I made sure to ask permission first.

Make sure you do go up there. It's at least a half day thing. Especially if you've never been there. It's huge and there's sooo much to look at. And make sure you eat there. It's part of the experience. :)

Also, thank you! Monopoly is our thing. We played that instead of going to my senior prom. Haha.

hahaha yeah we struggled a bit with a futon and a desk. fingers KILLED afterwards!!

how sweet of your grandpa to help :)  they tend to like those things tho (I think). I have memories of one of my grandpas with tinkertoys/erectorsets!

did anyone watch the Tonys? Neil Patrick Harris said something like, "Isn't this theater gorgeous? Everything's from IKEA. Took thousands of hours and allen wrenches to put it together!!" that made me "lol"
