White House Ranch Weddings?

White House Ranch was voted best of 2010 on this website.  Is anyone planning on getting married there or were recently married there? What have your experiences been like working with their staff?  Do you have any advice or things you would do differently?  Who were your florist/photographer, do you recommend them?  I read a negative review about the florist recommended by White House on google, Clear Lake Florist.  I'm getting married there next year, and would like to go into this with as much info as possible! Thanks ladies!

My friend had a wedding at White House Ranch in August 2009.  it was over at midnight which left guests disappointed. She was able to provide her own liquor.  the ceremony was performed outside. She had 200 guests. The dance space is limited however, another thing guests were disappointed with. Parking is basically on the grass wherever you can find parking. Since it's a house, the tables are not set up like a normal ballroom, guests cannot all see each other while eating, etc.

Thanks for the feedback!  They actually offer free valet there, so if people parked on the grass I guess they just didn't know.  A lot of venues don't go past midnight, mainly because they have to clean up.   I'm thinking of not putting tables in the chandelier room so the dance floor is bigger.  I like that it's not setup like a  normal ballroom.  I'm tired of those.  Every wedding seems the same.  I hope this place is an opportunity to do something different.

I have been trying to get a call from Michelle it seems she is not a people person?
Who did you work with there? I did talk to Lisa she was actually really good. Is there any other person you'd recommend or is Michelle the only one there?

Well Lisa actually owns the company, and Michelle is her assistant.  I've have similar trouble with her.  She was supposed to send me an estimate for the catering and never did.  So now I contact Lisa directly .  You might mention your difficulties with Michelle.

I spoke to my friend who got married there, she says Michelle was rude and they are not very friendly there. However, she did love the place !

I got a price from Michelle and she stated that it was from the information I gave Lisa-and I see that you listed that the valet is free I'm being charged 286.50 for valet on the quote...

I was told it was complimentary.  Maybe it's included in the Rental Fee?  If you're being charged for it, then tell them you don't want it!   I mean, they charge for cakes too, but you don't HAVE to have one, right?

She just quoted me $380 for valet! I'll just let my people park themselves, that's ridiculous! And $75 for an ice bowl?! You've got to be kidding me.

I'm definitely going to bring my own liquor! I think that's a major plus!  South Shore Harbor charges their regular bar price for people staying at the hotel.  And I used to be a bartender, so I know how many bottles to get.   A DJ will be tricky.  I think 850 is high.  I read on WW that a prefered DJ from a venue was 550, preferred meaning they got a discount by booking them.  Also, on WW that the music skipped while the bride went down the ailse.  That said, I will probably provide my own ceremony music.
