Rings, how much $$$

I was wondering how much are you ladies paying for rings. My FI and I both want something on the simple side. I found something very simple at Tiffany's for $350. My FI is still looking for something he likes, but everything he has found is around the same price. We decided that for maybe our 5 year anniversary we will buy something more expensive, but for now with me in school and my FI being the only one working we will keep it simple and cheap, but nice from a quality place such as Tiffany's.

You are talking about just bands, right?  If so - FI's band costs about $1500, but the jeweler gave us a discount b/c we are repeat customers so we're paying less than that (FI got my e-ring from there).

Don't know about my band yet b/c it has to be custom made to fit next to my e-ring.  We are supposed to order that about 10 weeks before the wedding, so we'll find out the price then.

I know my ring + enhancer will be a couple thousand, but it's what I wanted. His band will be about $1000. But it's a 1/2 karat and he wants it. I might get him the 1/4 karat first though. It's a little less expensive.

Mine has a small stone on it in aquamarine. My e-ring has a diamond and I plan to wear them together. I like the small stone because even this diamond I have now gets in my way.

We spent a little more on our rings. FI's was $1,800. I got him a platinum band which came with a lifetime warranty against damage and insurance from loss. I figured it'll save us over the years.

I also wanted a custom band with my e-ring because I didn't like the matching band that came with my e-ring. The custom ring I got was umm....quite a bit more. I justified it by saying "if I am spending x amount on guests for the wedding, I can spoil myself a bit". It was my wedding splurge Laughing.

My FI and I are getting wide, thick platinum bands...we've priced them to be about $2,000 for FI's (sz 12) and mine (sz 4.5) will probably be much cheaper...so I figure about $2,500-$3,200.

I recieved a very special family heirloom from my fi, so we just reset it in a different band. That was $300. However my enhancer is $800.

My ring will be about $3000 because I want a wide eternity ring that can stand on its own.  I work in the medical field and I have to wear gloves, so I probably won't wear my engagement ring to work since it's uncomfortable with gloves.  His ring will probably only be about $300.  He doesn't want anything special like diamonds, so his will be pretty plain.

My FI ring is $600 and it's white gold with small diamonds running through it. It's beautiful and he loved it so that's what it is.

My complete set (engagement ring & band) was 93 bucks at a local pawn shop (**smiles **to those of you who think this is taky) I love it to pieces, more than the $300 set I had first picked. It's square & in white gold. And my FI ring was $219 from Kays, we caught a good sale!

@asabb - hey, I don't think it's tacky; after going to several jewerly stores I decided to check out that option and that's were I found both my e-ring and wedding band for about $1,100.  We got at least three times the karats than the set we were looking at for the same amount.  I was a little afraid that the diamonds were not going to be as good as the set we saw at the jewelry store but after getting it appraised, the diamonds were actually better! Who would've thought!  I wouldn't rule out pawn shops - but do your homework.

As for FI's ring, we're surprising him (FMIL and I) with his deceased father's wedding band.  They were so close, and he told me in a conversation one time that he liked his father's wedding band; so.....he's getting it.  Just had to pay to get it resized (his finger is so much larger than his dad's) and some repairs done to some prongs, etc. since the band is about 50 years old, which ran about $250.

DH has a tungsten 2 tone band with a single diamond and it was about $300. I have a quarter-carat prong set half-eternity band that was $400 (I didn't want it to compete with my solitaire e-ring).

@kiyamurph and asaab:  I was nearly in tears when FMIL asked me if I like to give it to himt.  I was struggling with what type of band to get him because he said he didn't care what I bought, and since he has such a large finger the tungsten bands didn't work.

Wow, i just realized that I dont know how much my ring and band was.
But I got his band from kay jewelers. It was $899. But I caught it on sale and got it for 5 something almost 6 because i brought the warranty plan with free cleanings and stone replacement if he loses one.

I really have no idea how much we'll be spending because we haven't looked yet. Slackin'...but I'm sure we'll spend more on mine, because FI really doesn't care. He's not a jewelry person, and we just can't see buying something really expensive knowing that he will really only wear it when we go out. Me, I want something pretty to complement my solitaire. :-)

Wow......I didn't know so much was being spent on the bands. Altogether, my band and my FI's band is about $650.

I got my wedding band custom made off of etsy. White gold band with scrollwork and diamonds and sapphires for $485.

He's allergic to the nickel alloys in ring, so we got him a titanium ring with the inscription "Creideamh Dochas Gra Cairdeas" which means Faith, Hope, Love, and Friendship in gaelic. The ring ended up being around $150
