Rough day

I need a small vent.

So as some of you may know my brother is heading to Afghanistan on the 30th, he was trying to get a week of leave to come home and see everybody but it was denied being so close to deployment. I was upset but ok.

I found out today that his girlfriend of 2 months is flying out to see him next week. This is the 2nd time she has gone since they started dating. I feel bad but I am so mad and sad at the same time that I actually cried.

I love her so I don't know where this emotion is coming from but I am really upset.

    I don't think it's bad that you're feeling this way. You've got every right to feel upset. I can't even imagine having a family member that's deployed.

    6 months. He is going to be accompanying any hum v that goes out for delivery or patrol or anything like that.

    It's going to be a long 6 months.

    Rebecca my heart goes out to you. :( I think you are justified in your feelings right now. You are scared and miss your brother and knowing he will be going away to a place that , lets face it, is scary has you emotional. Thats perfectly fine. I will keeping you all in my thoughts. I hope his deployment is quick and wish for his safe return

    Those feelings are normal and the drop off is or for me was the worst. Are you close with girlfriend to have get togethers? Sometimes it helps to get together both of you. just take it one day at a time and the next 6 months will be over with.

    Her and I are very close, she's actually a bridesmaid.

    That's the worst part for me I think, since he is leaving from Germany we have to say "goodbye" via skype. The whole thing is just hard.

    I think you are just feeling scared and sad that you can't see him.  Those feelings are totally justified and have nothing really to do with the gf going to see him other than that you feel jealous that you can't say goodbye to him.  It's okay to have those sad days :(

    just out of curiousity but if that's the exact date he's heading out you should edit the date out.

    while my FI (then bf) was deployed I actually found a military website with forums it really truly helped me. a lot of people were on it and some of it was general talk along with military.
