Winter Wedding dilemmas

My fiance and I refuse to change our wedding date of 12-21-12. Living in Buffalo in the heart of winter, we understand that we're going to run into some problems. Location location location is our biggest enemy. We don't want a church and cannot afford a hall that's going to charge $50 a person for 200 people.. We're basically looking for any place around the Buffalo area that we could rent out cheaply. Know of any place?

Is that a Friday night? Have you started asking around for quotes yet? A lot of venues will give you pretty good discounts for a Friday wedding, plus it's off-season. I highly recommend Pearl St. because it's very central to 190 and downtown hotels, so if you and your guests get stranded due to weather you won't have to walk too far!

you should be able to get really good prices considering your heart is set on a Friday wedding during the off season!

i'm biased but i also recommened Pearl Street... they can really fit any budget! plus they provide centerpieces and decorating with your package!

Our wedding is 2/18/12. And EVERY vendor has given us a "winter" discount. But you have to ask for it. Happy Planning! I love Buffalo winters and can't wait for our winter wedding. :)

I say look into places that are attached to hotel or very close to one.  That way in case there is inclement weather, people will have somewhere to stay.  The Holiday Inn on Grand Island I've heard is pretty nice; not sure about prices though...

I'd even look into Sean Patrick's on Millersport HWY in Getzville. The Ramada that's near there will shuttle any guests staying in the hotel to and from the venue as long as you schedule it ahead of time. Worth a shot.

You could also look into the Hilton on Genesee by the airport -- I think it's a Hilton Garden Inn but I'm not sure. Plus being on Genesee there's hotels everwhere since it's by the airport.

    Good Luck!

Contact Visit Buffalo Niagara.  They sent me an email about 4 months ago saying they will get quotes from many different places for you (and they do it for free).  I already had everything booked by the time I got the email, so I didn't use them, but it looks like it would save a lot of time trying to find a place.

I am getting married this december and Samuels Grand Manor  gave me a friday night discount which I think was very reasonable and they have been great to work with since I am planning from out of town.
