Bridesmaids Dilemma! HELP!!

I have 2 good friends that I know will be hurt if I don't ask them to be bridesmaids. If they are in the wedding party I will have 8 bridesmaids but I am more comfortable with 6. Should I just ask them and not risk hurting their feelings or should I offer them another responsibility for the wedding? I do not want them to be hurt, but I also don't want to spend the extra money for 2 extra bridesmaids. Please help!!!

    Bridesmaid, reader, or guest.  Don't give them "responsibilities."  No one wants to work your wedding.

    Just ask the six girls you want to ask, and don't ask anyone else just to avoid hurt feelings. Additional bridesmaids means two more bouquets, gifts, and whatever else you are springing for, like hair, shoes, etc. If it's not in your budget, don't feel like you have to ask them.

    They should not ask you why they aren't bridesmaids; it would be rude to do so. If they do ask, just say the same thing you would say to an uninvited guest: "We had to keep things small." Then mention how excited you are to see them at the wedding--as guests.
