DJ Recommendation**

So after hearing good reviews about the DJ Jason Palermo on here and wedding wire, my FI and I set up a meeting with him for last night, and I'm sooo glad that we did!!  We ended up staying and talking with him for an hour and a half!!!!  You can totally tell that he has a passion for music and is a DJ for the job not for scamming people out of their money.  His prices are beyondddd reasonable and his top concern is making sure that your day is as unique as the couple is.  He's quick to respond to any correspondence, and after meeting with him last night my FI and I are even MORE excited to get married than we were before, if that's at all possible!!  So thank you to the knotties who recommended him, and to all of you who haven't booked a DJ yet, definitely check him out!!!

I'm trying to set up a date with him as well - based on these knottie reviews. Did he say anything about backup equipment or anything? I guess I'm concerned about the what-ifs - what if he's sick or something? What if a piece of equipment stops working?

Also, Ladies - what are your thoughts on a DJ during cocktail hour? I talked w/ After Hours (enfield) last night (again, based on your recommendations), and he said some ppl do music during cocktail hour and some don't. If the weather's good for our wedding next year we'd like cocktail hour out on the patio... Is music necessary?

i don't think i've ever seen a DJ during a cocktail hour.  i think the weddings ive been to usually start music at the dinner.

DJ Palermo has a back up plan already established which I'm sure he'd be more than willing to talk to you about and answer any other questions.  But I believe he has two sets up equipment, one that's larger and one that is smaller.  As well as he has a person lined up in case an "act of god" occurs and he is unable to do it, but from what i understand he's never missed anything before.

As far as the cocktail hour, we have chosen to use the DJ for two reasons, one because he will already be there for the ceremony, plus soft music is just nice during the cocktail hours so that it's not silent other than chatter, but I think it's all personal preference!  Also Jason has a discounted rate for the ceremony and cocktail hour compared to the reception, which we found really appealing!

I know DJ Jason Palemo and he is great. As far as music during coctail hour I  have usually heard that it is quiet subtle music. I will have music at my wedding. My DJ however will be DJ Shawn Taylor very reasonable prices, back up plan if he is sick, and in the same area as DJ Jason.
