October 2012 Weddings

Rehearsal Dinner guests

Besides the bridal party + dates, parents, and grandparents, who else are you inviting to your rehearsal dinner? Am I supposed to invite my day-of-coordinator? How about the officiant (hired-professional)?

Out-of-town guests are a no because i'm having a destination wedding so that's technically the whole wedding (145 guests).

Re: Rehearsal Dinner guests

  • We're pretty much a destination as well.

We invited bridal party and sig others, their kids, both sets of parents, our officiant, my photographer, the two readers, grandparents and a single aunt traveling with one grandparent. I'll also likely extend to my coordinator since she just offered to be there for the rehearsal when she didn't need to be.

  • I had a post the other day about mine.  Since my family is all OOT, we are invited our extended families.  OOT friends are not invited, otherwise we would probably have most everyone from the wedding.  We are inviting:

    WP + SO
    Parents
    Siblings + SO + kids
    Grandparents
    Aunts, Uncle, cousins
    DOCs
    Pastor & his wife

While I don't think you need to do extended family & gparents if you don't want to, I think that the Officiant and DOC (assuming she was at the rehearsal) should be invited.  They may both turn it down.  I think with the officiants, it's pretty standard for them to only attend either the RD or reception.
FMIL said she was surprised and forgot about the Pastor, but he has already said that he would come to dinner.  I secretly hope he doesn't stay for our reception, because then we have fed him 2 nights in a row, and I guarentee he won't be drinking $24 worth of any beverages!

We did wedding party and their SOs reader and her H, parents, siblings and their SOs, pastor and DOC. We also invited the three OOT relatives that are flying in from Germany and staying with my Dad.

We did not invite the string quartet at they're hired pros with no relationship to me. I've gotten to know our DOC over the last year and it woud feel weird to me to not invite her.

  • I invited our officiant, reader, day-of coordinator and musicians, as well. They have to be at the rehearsal anyway, so they might as well get some dinner after it! :-)

  • We're inviting a total of about 40 ppl. All WP and SO's and children if they have them. And parents/siblings of children in the wedding.. Parents, Gparents, DOC who is married to Fi's cousin so the family is invited. Pastor and his wife. They're practically family. He's my Aunts brother. I will also tell the DJ that day he's welcome to grab a bite since he'll be there to run through ceremony music.

  • We've invited BP + SO's or guests, extended family (aunts & uncles) that will be in town (most are OOT), and a few OOT guests we know will be there the night before. We're going to have just under 40. We aren't inviting our officiant. We have no personal relationship with her. She's coming to the rehearsal, but wasn't invited to the dinner. She will be staying for reception though. I don't have a DOC.

  • We invited all guests to rehersal dinner because our family has never met before. Well, so far no one has really taken us up on our "offer" except my aunt and uncle... so far it is just our parents, bridal party, and my aunt and uncle.
