Unique venue!?!!

So after considering the many different options for ceremony/reception sites, we have decided that we are looking for something a little less 'traditional'. 

We are located about 30mins north of Madison.  Does anyone know of any places around the area that are different than the church/hotel/golf course setting?  ex: great outdoor spots, historic mansions, other unique wedding opportunities?!

    Tyrol Basin ski area does weddings (Mt. Horeb).  You get to ride the chair lift up to the top of the hill for the ceremony. 

    This was one of our top choices for venue, but my fiance wanted a more traditional wedding so we are having it at the Monona Terrace.

    Thanks for the suggestions!  All of those sound great - just a bit to far from the families home town :-( 

    I think we are looking closer to the East side of madison or Sun Prairie location... still with no luck on something different!
