Hi Fellow Columbus Brides!

I thought I should introduce myself since it's painfully obvious that I'm going to be lurking around here for the next 9 months!
We just got engaged in early December and we are attempting to plan for September 22, 2012. (It feels like it's not enough time to enjoy being engaged and plan a wedding- but we really don't want to wait until the following spring!) I'm sure I will be asking a lot of questions, so thanks in advance for all your help!

  •  We are planning to get married on 9/22/12 too but a lot of venues have been booked. We are still looking, do you have any recommendation?
  • Welcome, and Congrats!!!

  • Welcome and congratulations!

I think there is never enough time to enjoy being engaged and plan a wedding. When FI and I tie the knot we will have been engaged for well over a year, but in the meantime we have bought and fixed up a house. Needless to say life has been crazy.

I understant not wanting to wait, the only reason our engagement is so long is that my sister lives overseas and we wanted to have the wedding when she would be in town.

Bottom line is that if you want to do this September, go for it! It is definitely doable.

  • Hello! I am also a product of long engagement. By the time we get married in July we will be engaged a year and a half.

I personally am enjoying the long engagement because it gave us lots of time to make decisions on what we want. We got engaged last december so getting married last summer would have been too quick!

Update us on all the things you have done and any information you need help on :0

    Again, congrats on the engagement!
  • Congrats and welcome!  This board is super helpful so don't be afraid to ask questions!

  • We don't have a venue yet either! We're going for September 22, but we're also open to September 8, October 13, and November 10 (but only if we absolutely have to). We also have to take into consideration church availability- we're doing a Catholic ceremony and we don't want to have "the Catholic gap" between the ceremony and reception, so we're trying to stick to parishes without a Saturday mass. Needless to say, I have quite the church/venue availability matrix going!

I do know Dock 580 and Cosi are not available on Sept 22, in case you were considering either of those =(
  • Congrats and welcome!  I planned in 8 months so its definitely doable.  I also had the pleasure of tackling the Catholic church/venue as well.  That was really the hardest part.

  • Congratulations! I'm having a July wedding and didn't start planning until November I believe? Anyways, you have a ton of time! September is a hot month for weddings, but I'm sure you will find a date :) You will get to use beautiful colors with an autumn wedding!
