garden, shabby chic venue search!

Hi Brides,

I have been extensively searching for a wedding venue since our Oct. 2010 engagement, for summer 2012 wedding that will fit both our style and budget. We're going for a shabby chic rustic/vintage/garden party (think mason jars and worn first editions of our favorite books as centerpieces--we met in English class). We just visited Bartram's Garden and obviously love it but we're concerned about catering costs. Food is extremely important so most of our budget will go that route.

Speaking of we're hoping to keep the budget under $100pp and inviting 160 guests, 80% are family so cutting the guest list short isn't an option.

Anyone have any venue ideas that fit our desired theme and insight into some catering costs with Diverse Catering/Day by Day? Both catering menus look amazing fyi.

Thanks in advance!

I got married at Normandy Farm in July 2010 and was able to keep the cost around $100 pp-- that included a full bar, cocktail hour, a steak and chicken option as well as the cake.

I am not sure about the costs of the next two places, but I think the Barn at Birchwood and Loch Nairn Golf Club might also fit your tastes.

Also look into The Stone Barn in Kennett Square. The ceremony spot there didn't work for me, but it is definitely a good venue for shabby-chic.

Check out the partyspace/Jeffrey Miller venues.  I just got married at the Powel House which will be too small for you, but we did the whole garden/shabby chic/mason jar thing and it worked out great!

Shackamaxon is one of Bartram's caterers, I've heard they work well w/brides on a budget as well as having good food.  If you're looking for an outdoor only venue Ridley Creek Park isn't too expensive for outside area, it's the mansion that will cost you a lot.  Ck some of the Delaware State Park homes, some of them are great if you're willing to go that far.
