Negotiating price with venue?

Hi ladies-

Do any of you have tips for or experience with negotiating the price and costs of the venue? The venue we want includes food, drink, linens, centerpieces, ceremony, reception, wedding planner, etc. I'm wondering if this is even possible to negotiate costs, but if they could come down even a little bit then it would be in budget.

Thanks!!

Re: Negotiating price with venue?

  • Most place I have talked with this time and for my first wedding wont really budge on much.  You may be able to take something out to make it a little cheaper but I am not sure.  All I can say is tell them your budget and ask if that is something they can work with.  If not move on...

  • Maybe like a rental fee or something or the cost of the wedding planner if it is an offseason time, but Sept usually is not!

Doesn't hurt to ask, though.  Maybe explain to them that it is x amount over your budget and see if they can work with you

  • Thanks, y'all! I'll let you know if it works. I like the idea of giving it a try.. I guess it can't hurt. I'm not much of a negotiater though, so I'll have to leave it up the fiance.

  • We booked the Sheraton Grand for our reception and we were able to negotiate and get some freebies.  For instance, me and my fiance, his parents, and my parents all got suites free for 2 days!   My advice is it never hurts to ask.  The worst they could say is no.

  • I signed up on their website for something and my venue sent a postcard that offered me free chair covers! ( or I could have picked a chocolate fountain) Thbis was an incentive to pick them. See if your venue has something similiar to offer.
