Veil Opinion

Ladies, I am having challenges deciding on what kind of veil I like with my dress.  I tried on an elbow length at the store that I liked, but I have been thinking about a birdcage lately.  What do you all think goes best with my dress?  Oh and I plan to wear my hair half up too.  TIA!

I think either would work, it just depends on what feel you want for your wedding look, the length of your hair, the setting, etc. I'm a huge fan of birdcage veils, and I wanted something kinda sassy.

I don't think the birdcage veil would look right if you have longer hair. I dunno, but something about that seems off. Like bad feng shui or something. If the rest of your look/the rest of your wedding design and setting is very soft and romantic, you should probably go with the elbow length veil. Otherwise, I'm all for birdcages. :) FWIW!

PP, I was thinking the same thing about the longer hair (which I have).  I think I am trying to sass everything up a bit because I went into all this gung ho with the traditional wedding style, but not sure that style is completely me.  Maybe I can jazz everything up with accessories or something...

I think to just above your but would be good. What is that, fingertip?

I saw a pic on TK once of a girl who had a birdcage veil and she had longer hair, actually. It looked good! She had it pulled back - not an updo, just pinned back from her face so it fell toward the centre of her back. I think that helped keep her hair from competing with the veil. What about a tulle birdcage veil? Then it's the shape you're thinking, but it still has a traditional element. Take a look at my post to the person asking about hair pieces/fascinators for the Etsy sellers I liked for veils and such!

I think that dress doesn't quite have the modern or retro look that I usually associate with birdcage veils. It's an extremely romantic dress with the chiffon train and all. I'd go with the elbow veil, but that's just me :)

Thanks ladies for all your input!  I think I need to try some out and see what looks best.
