Madison area "A la Carte" or hourly photographers?

We are having a short ceremony with immediate family only at the State Capitol, and would like a photographer for only two hours to cover the ceremony and a few formals outdoors.  Does anyone have recommendations for a photographer willing to do this? We would also prefer to get all the negatives/rights to the photos. Thanks!

Jen

Please, please, please be careful when going this route.  I'm not saying that there aren't good photographers on therewho might be portfolio or skill building that you might be able to score a deal, but there are also some really crappy ones on there too.

Just because they have a fancy camera does not mean they know how to use it correctly (ie. shooting in manual vs auto) and it does not mean they know how to use the light or set up a shot.

Ask to see more than just their portfolio and examples becaue they will show you only their best photos.  Ask to see entire shoots as well, you'll get a better idea if you are paying $100 for 2-3 good pictures or 20-30 good pictures.

My photographer has a reasonably priced package and he was willing to deduct for each hour he was not reqired.  I am not sure if he's go down to 2 hours... but might be worth emailing http://www.adamtphotography.com/

I agree with Jules on being careful when looking at a craigslist photographer. The deposit for the one I found is only 10% down, so if I don't like the engagement photos, I'm out $45. For me it is wroth the risk, because my budget for photography is really small.

We are going with Chasing Lilies Photography (www.chasingliliesphotography.com) and Casey (owner) charges $200 an hour a la carte. She has OUTSTANDING customer service and is out of Madison.

    Hi Jen!

I am a photographer based in Mount Horeb.  I will do an hourly wedding with a 2 hour  minimum at $300 hour.  This price includes all full resolution digital files with rights to print.  You can view my work at www.arborphotographics.com

    Thanks for your consideration!

Matt Wisniewski is a freelance photographer and videographer out of Madison. He did my friend's wedding, and her photos were gorgeous! He charges $250 an hour flat rate, then he edits the best photos and gives you all of the photos in whatever form you want. This way, you can print photos as much as you want and not have to go through him or pay fees.
I looked into having him, but he'd already booked my date :(

If you are still looking for a Madison photographer, we got Katie Pennington from Nicholas Norbert Photography and I could not be happier with her. She is absolutely amazing!!! We also got a disk with all of our images and the rights to print them all. Here is their blog. http://nicholasnorbertphotography.blogspot.com/
