Castle McCulloch

Have any of you had any experiences with Castle McCulloch in Jamestown?  If so, what'd you think of it?  What do you think about their costs/facilities/employees?

DH had some friends get married there. Apparently, there were a ton of extra fees and charges that weren't disclosed upfront. They said they wouldn't pick it again, knowing what they do now.

If you are looking to get married in that area there are so many other places that are beautiful and more cost effective. The castle is a nice place if you like that kind of venue. But the cost is outrageous and the people act like they are so much better than everyone!

Thanks for the input, everyone!  I had heard some of those things.  It's not necessarily my favorite place, but it is on my list of possibilities--though low, and even lower now!

I have booked the Crystal Garden for April 2010. So far everyone that I have dealt with at the Castle has been nice and good to work with. It is a little expensive, but if you schedule your wedding for a week or so off prime season then you can get it for about $1000 less.  I loved the Castle/Crystal Garden the minute we arrived to tour the venue! Then when we took our moms for a tour, it was a must!

The girl with the April wedding posted only once and over a year ago for a wedding that was a year ago.  I don't think she'll see your question.

That said, I think you'll be okay at the castle.  Its a nice facility, just be sure to ask about any and all costs, and what responsibilities you have, etc.  Have you chosen caterers and all that yet? I know that Rosa Mae's is one of their preferred caterers, and they're really great. They did our rehearsal dinner.
