1st dress fitting

OMG I was HOT! Not in the I look fantabulous way but I was literally sweating down my legs! YUCK! After being in the dress for a little while it got better but my makeup is going to be trashed by the time the reception comes around.

So, here's my mini vent... Davids Bridal gave us pricing for alterations before we went in and as we were buying the dress. The lady also told us 4 weeks is needed. According to their alterations schedule my dress should've only cost a couple hundred for alterations.

When I made my appointment the lady told me I was just in time because if it had been 4 weeks there would've been a rush fee added... I was lik you have got to be kidding me. Anwyay water under the bridge... Turns out to alter a Vera Wang gown alteration costs go up!

WTH!? Davids bridal is seriously shitty at service and letting people know what to expect. I actually started with my appointment standing next to a girl sobbing about how she's been lied to and treated like crap... Thankfully my experience wasn't that bad it was just misleading.

After all that is said and done I Love my dress I'm so glad because I was aftraid to put it in on in case I hated it!

I got my dress through DB . Main issues: I pick up my dress from alterations and the dress is wrinkled! They didnt even bother to steam it! My BMs got their dresses from there also. Since they were all different they all arrived at different times! 2 of my BM has yet to even get their dresses and one was ordered the last week of APRIL! She is a size 0. Since the smallest size DB makes is a 2 she had to order a 2 and is going to take it to someone else to be altered! All of my BM have said that their dresses looked like they came right out of packages, wrinkles, fold lines etc. They pay 100-150 for a dress and its handed to them like they dont matter. All they wanted was the money is how we took it. One of my BMs ordered her dress and they over charged her. They said that since they have to refund and repurchase that it would push the delivery date back on her dress a whole 2 weeks! I cant believe that they are still in business after all the crap customer service we have received.

  • I have a DB vera dress too and I took it to an outside dress shop for alterations. I love my dress and I'm happy I got it but DB is horrible, I wouldn't want them to do my alterations.

My dress is hot too! I'm so happy I brought a reception dress. MELISSA, you're supposed to take your dress to db two weeks before the wedding to have it steamed.
  • oh my gosh I literally had sweat running down my legs after wearing my dress for a grand total of 20 minutes at my fitting. How in the world are we all going to stand it?!?

My friend just got married on June 2 and she said the entire day, even when they were inside, and especially when they were dancing, she just felt like her legs with dripping with sweat.

PS Ilovetorobot do you have pics?!? I would love to see your dress!!
  • DB SUCKS!!!!!  I refuse to buy there unless I am a BM for a friend's wedding...over DB and their crappy service...I understand that they're busy on the weekends...my friend and I went there for her to try on dresses to make sure the one she picked out was 'the one'...there were people waiting outside the door for them to open (I thought it was a good idea to just go as soon as they opened on a Sunday)...We had one person scheduled to us & two other girls trying on wedding dresses....I had to put her in & out of her dresses because the other lady was with the other two...yeah, no..not what I'm supposed to do..LIVID!!!

I've also heard bad things about them ordering the wrong dresses, etc...not fun....they are just in it for the comission...
  • DB was the first place I went to look for my dress. My experience was AWFUL. I hated every minute of it. The service girl was new and rude. She looked shocked when I asked if she was supposed to help me in and out of the dresses. She tried to tell my MOH that she knew more about what kind of veil I like than my MOH. And as my MOH knows, I don't want ANY veil! I left there wanting to cry because my first dress search was such a disaster.

  • I also have a DB dress and they were so hard to work with when it came to alterations. I finally had enough and went to an outside dress shop which was alot cheaper and easier to work with.

Same thing happened to me and my friends this last weekend!  I ended up helping my friend in and out of dresses, so I just went with it and played consultant.  We ended up having a great time but I was EXHAUSTED by the end of it.  I should have asked for part of the commission........

Ditto PP - Ilovetorobot I want to see your dress!

  • I dont know why anyone would go to Davids Bridal to buy their dress in the first place. Horrible service, dingy salon, crap quality and overpriced! I don't know why or how anyone thinks they are going to have this fabulous experience there. Not new news!

    <div>
</div><div>So I pay 400+ to have a wrinkled dress and then go pay another 40 to have them steam it? I think not. All they see is $$$. How can we get MORE money out of these women. </div>
