Hello! Anyone try a wedding brunch???

Hello, I am new to "the community;" I have so many questions and everyone seems so helpful on here.  I am in the Air National Guard and my fiance is active duty Air Force.  He's in GA (his family is in CA), I'm in FL (my family is in PA).  So we have that geographical issue that I am sure all military brides are conquering.  Also, I am toying with the options for not spending a lot of money but still having a nice gathering.  Is anyone considering a brunch or been to one or know somebody who has?  I will take any input on this!!  Thanks : )

    It may have been another board but I know I read a thread about doing a brunch before. I would gladly attend a brunch wedding though. I love breakfast food (I'm assuming you'd serve some breakfast and lunch foods). I don't doubt you'd probably save money doing this.

    I'd love to go to a brunch wedding!  I think it could be really beautiful and classy, while not costing a lot.  Where in FL are you?  I know there's a place in Miami that has the most amazing view and costs around $50/person.  They rent out the whole top floor and patio, have a full buffet with omelet station, carving station, crab legs, oysters, shrimp, you name it!  And unlimited mimosas.  That would be lots of fun!!!

    Brunch!!?? Breakfast is my favorite meal! Welcome to the MB board!

    I have never been to one nor know of any who have had one. If you are trying to cut on costs I would suggest an early afternnon reception, wedding at 1pm ...cake, punch coffee and tea at 2pm. ending at 4pm.  I honestly wish DD would have taken that route we would have saved alot!

    Cali, I'll be your guest if you get invited to that place again!! YUM!Laughing

    We could totally do a MB GTG at that restaurant if everyone wants to come to Miami!  Any takers?  For normal brunch it's only $35, but weddings are more expensive because of linens, cake, private room, etc.  But yeah - $35 for incredible buffet brunch and unlimited mimosas is a deal!

    We tried to go today, actually, but apparently they're closed for renovations until November.  I'm sure it'll be gorgeous when it's all done!

    I was about to say I haven't been to one, but I have!  A few years back when a cousin of mine in Oklahoma got married.  I've also had several other family members and friends have early afternoon weddings/receptions.  They were beautiful, elegant and very chill and relaxing.  A lot of the venues I've been researching and looking at have "brunch" as an option and they seem cheaper.

    @Calindi that place sounds amazing!

    I think thats an awesome idea! I would love to go to one and honestly never thought about doing it for our reception. I was just thinking about doing a small breakfast with everyone the next morning, before everyone leaves, but I don't want anyone to be under the assumption that we are paying, ya know?

    Off topic sorry. I think it would be a great idea, and I'm sure you'd definitely save money because the venue could book another party after you. :) Good Luck!

    janek - try pricing out your various options.  Think of all the things you'd need, what they include, etc.  It can make things a lot more clear, trust me!

    I love the idea :) I'd just be sure to price out some different options, since you could easily end up spending just as much on a brunch wedding as a dinnertime wedding if you aren't careful. Have you thought about doing a Sunday? That would probably get you a discount too, and a Sunday brunch should still leave enough time for your out-of-town guests to get home in time for work on Monday if they need to.

    Do you know what state you'd like to have it in, yet?

    The most fantastic wedding I have ever been to was a brunch! I think that if it prices out comparably, go for it. And welcome to the board!

    Thanks calindi, I'm refining my spreadsheets today.  It is so confusing when some sales people have floating prices...If you don't make the food min, then they charge more for the ceremony rental fees.  I'm definitely taking your advice!

    SarahP, I'm going to start with venues in PA since it's closest to all of my invitees.  Looking at Pittsburgh where my relatives live.
