How much do flowers cost?

Can anyone give me a sense of how much flowers cost? I realize it ranges dramatically, but I'm only getting started on the budget now and would like to know what I should expect to pay. 

I hope to make my own centerpieces, so would buy flowers wholesale for that (and DIY advice is so welcome!). But, what about simple flower arrangements for the bridal bouquet, the bridesmaids, the boutonniers, and some for the ceremony?

    Flowers are among the least predictable of wedding expenses, because they depend so much on a) what flowers you want, b) how many flowers you wantjj, and c) how complicated the arrangement is.  A hand-tied arrangement, for example, will cost you much less than the same flowers wired so that they will stay in the exact same place.

    That being said, we had two bridal bouquets, each of which was a hand-tied rose arm bouquet:


    We had a smaller bouquet of the same flowers for our MOH:


    And we had a bout made from one flower for our dude of honor:



    The total for all that was just under $250.

    My bouquet will cost about $175; the bouts are priced at $25.  We do not have bridesmaids, so I don't know that pricing.  What are you thinking of as your flowers "for the ceremony?"  Altar arrangements? Pew decorations?  That pricing would vary greatly.

    You might get a feel for some pricing if you review some of the posts on the Flowers board, however, you should count on costs being higher in DC.
