Tattoo Removal

So I can't remember if I posted the question of tattoo removal on our FB group or on the knot page, but I finally had my first appointment! Well you want to know how it went??
IT HURT LIKE HECK!!
It will be $150 per session and I will probably need 5-8 treatments. I am really hoping it will be done in 5, but we will see. They used a ND YAG laser and it only took about 2 mins total but we stopped so I could take a couple of breaths. Sealed
They used a stream of cold air to help with the pain during the treatment and an ice pack afterwards. I will go back every 7 weeks until it is done. Now it just feels like a burn which is also how it feels when it is being done. I would have to say that it feels like your skin being splattered with hot grease/oil over and over again. And not it feels like burn from the hot grease/oil. Not too bad, but still not looking forward to my appt in 7 weeks. Hopefully it will be all gone by the wedding and if not that's okay. I want it gone in general having it done by the wedding would just be a plus

Re: Tattoo Removal

  • Good luck with that! I can't imagine paying to be in that much pain so many times in a row, haha. Is your tattoo in a really visible place? I have one but it's on my rib cage so it's hidden like 99% of the time.

  • eeeek! maybe it will hurt less the next few times? :) I have a tattoo on my foot and have thought about getting it removed, but the pain of getting it there was so nuts that I can only imagine the pain of having it removed!

    Good luck!! :)
  • Ouch!  Just curious, but why are you having it removed?  I mean, obviously you don't like it anymore, but it must be a little more than that to put yourself through such agony and expense.

I hope your next treatment isn't as painful!!

  • I am going through the SAME thing!  Except I am paying about $250!  I don't know if it is the area or because I need 2 different lasers.  Do they use numbing cream before they start?  It helps only a little.  I decided to get mine removed when my daughter said she wanted one.  I got it when I was 18 and dumb.  I wanted her to see how painful it was to remove.  SO, she got her nose pierced instead...lol.  It is way up on my leg so you can't see it unless I am in a bathing suit or wearing white pants- so I always cover it up.  Did they tell you do not let it get any sun, that can make the removal process a lot longer.  I have had 3 treatments so far and it is slightly lighter, but nothing major yet.  So funny you posted because on my to do list is to make my next appointment.

  • So sorry that it hurt so bad, I hope it is gone in 5 treatments. I want mine removed. I got mine at 17 and it was a mistake. Luckily, it is super tiny and not in a visible place.

  • When I woke up this morning I really thought to myself that wasn't that bad. It hurt during the procedure but not too bad afterwards. It doesn't hurt at all right now. That's 24hrs post treatment. It is on my chest so it's partially visible in some shirts. It's not too low that I'm showing boobies but in certain vnecks or scoop neck shirts part of it is visible. I don't like it at all. I was 17 when I got it. Young and Dumb! I wish I would have put more thought into it. I don't like wearing anything that shows it at all. I've been thinking about getting it done for a couple of years but losing weight and changing my body and now being engaged just put the fire under my butt to get it done. I am really happy with my decision to proceed with this process even if it is a little painful. No pain no gain. And it's worth it to never have to look at this ugly thing again. One step closer everytime. If anyone is thinking about it I would suggest at least looking into it. I know I'm lucky that it's even under 200/treatment but it's one treatment 7 wks apart. And if I can't do the next treatment it's ok to do it when I can. It doesn't hurt the process any if they aren't equally spaced apart. Let me know if anyone has any questions. I'll be happy to answer them for you
