Honeymoon advice

Hi!

FI & I are trying to plan a honeymoon for the west coast of Florida and are having a hard time deciding on exactly what area to stay in. We want to rent a cottage hopefully on the beach. We were thinking Clearwater Beach, but I was wondering what the locals would recommend? TIA!

    Siesta Key In Sarasota you would love and if you want to go to tampa its only 45 minutes away. Clearwater is Nice too. But I like Siesta Better.

    When are you planning on coming?
    Clearwater is spring break destination.
    Siesta Key is great as pp said.
    Anna Maria Island is great.

    Sept. you are far from spring breakers, but you have hurricane season, but there hasn't been anything around here for awhile.
    I would look into vrbo.com
    Also craigslist.org
    Depending what you are looking for will depend on your beach spot.

    We are just looking for something relaxing, nothing too crazy. Just a bar or two to go to a night, maybe some fun little activites but nothing too intense.

    We did a bachelorette at a villa called Gumbo Limbo in Siesta Key and it was super reasonable and across the street from the beach.

    Sand Key, just past Clearwater Beach is less touristy and nice too.

    St Petersburg Beach is also nice, anything off of Gulf Blvd

    I love Siesta Key! My FI and I take a weekend vacation once a year there and we always stay at the cutest places. I have stayed at Tropical Breeze resort which was walking distance from the beach. We were right behind the Daquiri Deck and a few other bars were within walking distance with live music. Its really fun and a beautiful beach!

    On the West Coast of FL would also highly recommend Sanibel/Captiva as a great honeymoon spot!! Have fun!

    Totally agree with SIesta Key - we mini-mooned there between the wedding and leaving for the extended HM to San Diego the next Wednesday.
    Sanibel/Captiva is beautiful too but rather sleepy for a young newly-married couple who want to get out and do some things...
