Non-church ceremony site

Hi ladies!  We're in the middle of trying to decide on a ceremony/reception location (we want to do both in the same location), but some of the places that I really like so far we would not be able to have the ceremony there.  Can anyone recommend a ceremony location that is not a church on Mount Washington or the North Shore (or relatively close to either)?  We're coming down in April to visit the locations in person so this might work itself out, but I want to come armed with possible backup plans.  Not to mention that will be our only trip before we bring in our parents to show them our favorites and sign a contract.  Thanks!

    I had my reception only on the Gateway Clipper, but I know you can do the ceremony on board as well. I don't have any other suggestions since we got married in the church.

    We are having our ceremony and our reception at the River's Club. It's downtown in the Oxford Center. It is beautiful!

    My daughter had her wedding reception at LeMont on Mt. Washington - and jennybean had both her wedding and reception there on New Year's Day.

    Gorgeous view, delicious food, beautiful venue and great prices! 
    We were very pleased with the service.  The staff set up ALL of our linens, centerpieces, escort cards, placecards, favors, etc.

    One of the recent brides on this board had her ceremony and reception at LeMont restaurant on Mt. Washington.

    We had orginally chosen the West End Overlook for our ceremony.

    I loved it but we ended up having to relocate everything to Mill Run.

    Wow - the West End Overlook would be a beautiful spot for a wedding!

    I am not familiar with Mill run, I'll have to google it.  (I'm a country girl about an hour north of the city.)

    And I think the Zoo is such a cool spot for a bridal shower!  Where exactly will the shower be?  The Aquarium or outdoors in a tent?

    I had my ceremony and reception on the North Shore in Heinz Field at the West Club Lounge (ballroom upstairs). Not sure if that helps you at all, but I had them both in the same venue and it turned out great. I love Heinz Field and highly recommend it as it was very affordable and they do wonderful work.

    Just about all the locations you ladies recommended are on our "to see" list.  One of the places we were looking at that we were concerned about the ceremony was LaMont, but if we can have the ceremony there too then that would be perfect!

    The other one we're concerned about is if we choose the Carnegie Science Center.  They're open until 7 pm on Saturdays so the earliest we could start an event is 7:30.

    The West End lookout looks beautiful, is that a public park or do you schedule a reservation with someone?

    We also love the look of the Water's Edge area in the acquarium, right now I think that's my favorite.

    I haven't really thought about bridal showers, I imagine my best friend would probably throw one here in Rochester, NY for my friends.  One in Corning, NY for my parents and their friends, and maybe one in Windber, PA for my grandparents and the rest of my family.
